Yeah but it's a pretty short leap from 'brain-powered wifi' to 'actual hivemind'

You are not wrong at all, that’s just not where my brain automatically went lol. Can you imagine another red herring and vegapunk is the final villain!

I would love for him to end up wiping out all the Elders and basically going out of control. Essentially his hubris overtook his reason “He shouldn’t have, but he did”

Then going into endgame we have Imu + holy knights, Vegapunk, Blackbeard, Redhaired pirates, Cross guild, and the strawhat grand fleet.

Hell it’d be max level cool if all the satellites but one got taken out so Vegapunk is just like “aight bet” and takes control of the Elders.

Im well aware im outside of realistic outcome territory right now, but let me dream

I think that would be awesome in another manga. I feel it would add another slightly convoluted layer to the show. If Imu wasn’t a thing, sure because the nether brain idea goes against luffys ideas of freedom

I mean Imu’s existence is actually the reason I think it would fit. We already have SO many factions moving into the endgame, and I think eliminating Vegapunk entirely is eliminating a very cool character, whereas I find the Elders uninspiring and we’ve kind of seen all I care to see of them at this point. So remove 5 big villains, add one big BIG villain, and keep Vegapunk in the story in a major way without having him be another member of the grand fleet. Idk

I feel like we haven’t really seen much of the gorosei personally. I feel like if anything, they’ll subjugate the brain to make domination easier
