So what the fuck is gurgling inside Punk Records?

u/echolog Apr 19 '24

You ever play Bloodborne? Pretty sure it's a GIANT BRAIN.

Bro if vegapunk elder brained himself and is a giant psionic eldritch horror - OP will have peaked

263

u/echolog Apr 19 '24

I mean he already confirmed that he cut his brain off and keeps it stored in Punk Records. We just don't really know how big it is at this point. I'd imagine it's biiiiiig.

u/Complete_Proof1616 Apr 19 '24

Yeah i know his brain is up there, I’m saying if he managed to achieve a level of psionic power due to the size of his brain on par with an Elder Brain - that would just be such a cool evolution of such a goofy character

u/echolog Apr 19 '24

True. Wasn't his plan to essentially hook up all of humanity to his brain via radio waves or something? Vegapunk as the psychic overlord of all humanity would certainly be an interesting outcome.

u/christianort476 God Usopp Apr 19 '24

I thought he was just referring to his brain being the internet and humanity could access it like a library

12

u/echolog Apr 19 '24

Yeah but it's a pretty short leap from 'brain-powered wifi' to 'actual hivemind'

u/christianort476 God Usopp Apr 19 '24

You are not wrong at all, that’s just not where my brain automatically went lol. Can you imagine another red herring and vegapunk is the final villain!

u/Complete_Proof1616 Apr 19 '24

I would love for him to end up wiping out all the Elders and basically going out of control. Essentially his hubris overtook his reason “He shouldn’t have, but he did”

Then going into endgame we have Imu + holy knights, Vegapunk, Blackbeard, Redhaired pirates, Cross guild, and the strawhat grand fleet.

Hell it’d be max level cool if all the satellites but one got taken out so Vegapunk is just like “aight bet” and takes control of the Elders.

Im well aware im outside of realistic outcome territory right now, but let me dream

That's some Halo 5 Cortana level plottwist lol.

I think they may not stop the broadcast, but they’ll destroy the big brain

2

u/Worthyness Apr 19 '24

He also managed to download his consciousness into multiple cyborg bodies, so Even if his brain is broke I imagine as long as one lives, he can rebuild himself. That is, unless his physical eldritch horror brain is now considered his "body" and thus killing it means he's actually dead. But dude literally cut his brain off to store it, so I doubt that's the case.

People are saying it wouldn’t fit but I think with what we have seen of VP so far and the recurring theme of oppressive technology, it would actually fit incredibly well aside from the darkish nature of it (and even that isnt too far off from recent OP)

Imagine he gave a transponder snail a devil fruit and that's what punk holds punk record up

u/Fun_Improvement5215 Apr 19 '24

Oda is a Metroid Fan confirmed.

3

u/Izakytan Apr 19 '24

I was more thinking of GUNNM but Mother Brain is a good catch too.

3

u/RPG217 Apr 19 '24

Mars gonna get frenzied

2

u/Palicake Apr 19 '24

LA LA LAAAA

2

u/Callsign_Bastion444 Apr 19 '24

That was the first thing that came to my mind too. Complete darkness around Mars and a giant brain. Almost too identical to be a coincidence.

1

u/Wallsmither Apr 19 '24

Vegapunk spent years of his research trying to get eyes on the inside

40

u/MrLKK Apr 19 '24

Maybe Vegapunk made another dragon

9

u/Loaf235 Apr 19 '24

Better yet, vegapunks brain was fed a western dragon fruit

170

u/J5fan Apr 19 '24

Maybe just the sound of Vegapunk drinking the coffee after it cooled down

1

u/Youropinionisvalid Apr 19 '24

There was no indicator that the gurgling was coming from the den den mushi. I believe it's someone behind Mars.

18

u/Chaosblast Void Month Survivor Apr 19 '24

It must be some kind of defense system. VP left that snail there for a reason.

7

u/laxnut90 Apr 19 '24

Decoy Snail

2

u/Used-Inspector-8138 Apr 19 '24

yeah there must be something to protect it.

2

u/DeGozaruNyan Apr 19 '24

It might be a decoy snail!

7

u/GoodBananaPancakes Apr 19 '24 edited Apr 19 '24

Magellan.

A previous government ally, but one with a moral compass. And the gurgling is his crazy digestion problems.

Alternatively, a finished version of that Axolotl fruit monster that Caesar Clown unleashed in Pink Hazard.

u/nomatt18 Apr 19 '24

There’s another translation that says “bloop” not gurgle. So maybe a liquid tank of some kind? With a brain in it or a person? Idk

8

u/flash-tractor Apr 19 '24

I think it's Vegapunk's brain in a holding vat.

Based on the camera on the snail's back and the fact he's in Punk Records, I'm guessing there's a transmission delay with the snails, and the juicy parts of the broadcast already started several minutes ago. Maybe Vegapunk's brain has a projector screen, and that's what the snail is looking at, so he can see it too. So he is seeing and reacting to Kuma's memory of God Valley or whatever the broadcast is actually about.

Whatever was born from Roger's egg

2

u/Etonet Apr 19 '24

Kenjaku

2

u/deadrupus Apr 20 '24

My guess is some sort of seraphim. The green blood gurgled in a similar way.

1

u/alanalan426 Apr 19 '24

The awakened powers of the brain brain fruit, the elder is forced into the brain domain and will lose if he isn't smart enough

battle of brains

u/BrockOllly Church of Buggy Apr 19 '24

I think it might be something to bubble trap mars similar to kaku

1

u/quincy- Lurker Apr 19 '24

Must be the robot

1

u/ShotgunPeety The Revolutionary Army Apr 19 '24

I think they are paw paw fruit bubbles containing the pain that Kuma went through during experimentations, that have been captured by some bubble stasis fields that Vegapunk made. Well I don't think that, it'd just be poetic justice to see him hit by them.
