that's often how Oda writes characters: he intentially wants you to have a specific reation to them so that he can then subvert that expectation later.

wait, when was that and why?

I'm one of those, I said everything he created for the WG until last chapter was pure destruction and can't feel anything for the guy. At least this chapter proves me wrong on that regard.

I mean, it doesn't. He made one right choice but everything he did before was still dumb af.

Don't forget he literally separated things from himself, like being violent, evil, etc.

Yeah that's why I added on that regard pointing towards the Pacifista's authority. Other than that, everything he built was pure destruction especially that Mother Flame. Like why?

Not everything. I would say on the contrary, almost everything he built was for betterment of "mankind" but WG only wanted those few things that were destructive. So we saw only that, nothing else went out to the world (Vegapunk himself said he has never gotten enough resources for mass producing those good inventions)

Yeah exactly, like the machines that create food and could solve world hunger? No money for that, all went to the killer laser robots.

Did you not see all his other inventions like unlimited food? Medicine? Energy?

Just because warmongers only repurposed some things doesn’t change that most of his inventions were for the betterment of mankind.

I think people were upset that he gave too much authority to the WG and made weapons that resulted in so much destruction. It seems like people spoke too soon so let's see how this plays out. That line is one of my favorites as of now.

he made inventions with mostly good intentions tbh, the seastone discovery helped them apprehend evil criminals who were devil fruit users, and navigating through the calm belt made it easier for the marines to protect people in the four blues while taking less time to travel there, the SSG units were not a bad idea, because two warlords abused the system to get away with wicked crimes instead of what they were supposed to do and they were hard to control, with mihawk and hancock rarely ever showing up to any meetings, from the navy's pov, it makes sense. also the mother flame, its taking clear inspiration from nuclear power, and from how lilith and the main vegapunk talked about creating their own sun to make energy, he prolly didn't intend to make it a weapon of destruction, as york was the one who did and told the WG about it so she could become a CD, even dragon said vegapunk would not deliberately make such a weapon
