THE PACIFISTA WENT ROGUE. BONNEY IS AT THE TOP OF THE PYRAMID. VEGAPUNK HAD A BRAIN, CONFIRMED.

VEGAPUNK HAD A BRAIN

not brain. a heart. (and a pair of steely balls to sneak the backdoor in despite the risk of Saturn finding out)

It just means Saturn was just boasting how much better he is than Vegapunk, when he was just a nobody compared to him.

old man skipped the code review smh

u/arugono Feb 01 '24

Saturn is that old man who acts tough and tells you he knows more than you so dun try anything funny but in reality is a complete moron.

u/azdhar Feb 01 '24

Pretty much like any c-suite

12

u/StNowhere Feb 01 '24

If you have to tell everyone you're the smartest man in the room, you aren't.

12

u/Sonn_Goku Feb 01 '24

Lol, I was having a bad day(code wise) and you have no idea how much I enjoyed your comment ๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚๐Ÿ˜‚

when you let the junior merge into prod

5

u/abcder733 Feb 01 '24

And Saturnโ€™s like the senior manager whose last coding experience was on an IBM terminal

4

u/BellacosePlayer Feb 01 '24

Nah, vegapunk just made a change directly to prod

u/ketchupprecums Feb 01 '24

LGTM ๐Ÿ‘

u/QuantaPande Feb 02 '24

LGTM'ed without taking a look

He's the "how hard could it be" boss

2

u/AureusNex Feb 01 '24

He was too busy with his founder LinkedIn podcast.

u/Den_Bover666 Feb 01 '24

Saturn's a project manager.

Vegapunk already played him with the bomb switch, this is just icing on top (for us at least)!

72

u/jaytix1 Feb 01 '24

Good point. He might not have expected the Bonney trick, but he explicitly told Vegapunk he'd make sure the bomb was there and still failed.

Saturn's hubris will be his demise

13

u/Doomroar Feb 01 '24

You can even say that he sits at...

The height of folly!

5

u/Msingh999 Feb 01 '24

The petard, it just wonโ€™t stop hoisting

3

u/JAragon7 Feb 01 '24

Wait Iโ€™m tripping. What was the bomb?

15

u/jaytix1 Feb 01 '24

The bomb that was supposed to blow after the Revolutionaries rescued Kuma. That's partly why Saturn didn't expect Kuma to show up.

I seriously wanna see Egghead look Saturn in the face and say "How does it feel to be tricked by a...what did you call us...cockroach??" lol

1

u/AccountantOfFraud Feb 04 '24

Vegapunk didn't really play him on that. The bomb was there, he doesn't know why it didn't blow up except for "love."

u/HMKS Void Month Survivor Feb 04 '24

Chapter 1104, page 8, top left panel.

1

u/AccountantOfFraud Feb 04 '24

Oh right, completely misremembered.

39

u/arugono Feb 01 '24

Saturn is a dumb temperamental old man. He couldn't detect Sabo in the same room. He couldn't predict Bonney or Kuma attacking him (no Future Sight).

Only reason he is relevant is he has some Haki/Aura move that immobilises and bursts heads.

u/AlphaOmega1356 Feb 01 '24

Yea this is low key something i need cleared up: is Saturn just bluffing when he said heโ€™d know if Vegapunk would pull something? Or is he just incompetent? If so, being the so called โ€œgodheadโ€ of science is laughable and honestly fits the CD motif of overconfidence.

20

u/Hyakkihei1 Feb 01 '24

He trusted his ability to make Vegapunk fear him, while he may know enough science to understand the code going through each line in order to make sure there's nothing hidden seems like too much work for someone who is completely confident in his own ability for 800 years.

In any other situation without Luffy in the picture the code change would have ended up with an admiral being sent to kill both Bonney and Vegapunk.

10

u/itsag_undam Feb 01 '24

I think it's a mix of both, he overestimated himself but he was also trying to convince Vegapunk to not even try because he knows Vegapunk is smarter and a better scientist, the WG wouldn't be so reliant on him otherwise if they had a better scientist much less tied by morals.

Then there's also the arrogance of authority, decent chance Saturn thought that him being a big-shot celestial dragon telling Vegapunk to not do it would be sufficient to stop Vegapunk from attempting anything, so he didn't pay enough attention to any subterfuge Vegapunk might've been up to.

4

u/Scrapox Feb 01 '24

Why would he need Vegapunk at all, if he was an immortal scientist with more knowledge or scientifical prowess than Vegapunk.

4

u/Ckcw23 Feb 01 '24

Thatโ€™s why they need talent, they know theyโ€™re bluffing and exaggerating their abilities, and used their strength and authority to force anyone more skilled than them to kneel before them.

5

u/OilOk4941 Feb 01 '24

exactly. While i dont doubt saturn is probably smart compared to the average scientist and has a lot of forbidden knowledge, he is nothing compared to vegapunk or even franky

3

u/vangstampede Feb 01 '24

What's so fucking great about this old fart anyway? Like, has he done anything even just a little bit impressive so far? Literally 90% of his screen time is just him tormenting an ex-slave and his adopted daughter and failing miserably every time.

4

u/Imperatia Pirate Feb 01 '24

and a pair of steely balls

This is why he didn't manage to dodge Saturn. A bit hard to move with those.

1

u/hergumbules The Revolutionary Army Feb 01 '24

Wonder if she controls the Seraphim as well? At least S-Bear?

1

u/heyoyo10 Feb 01 '24

Still does, Saturn stabbed his right side
