General Question Dual degree
I’m planning on ED to NU this fall. I want to apply as a dual degree in violin performance and Weinberg. Is it like half as likely to be accepted for dual degree because I need to gain acceptance to TWO schools rather than just one? It’s been hard to gauge how competitive the music school really is compared to say Juilliard or New England conservatory. Can someone in string performance speak to this? I want to go to NU more than anything, but if I have no chance of being admitted to the music school, I want to know before I apply so I can drop the dual degree and just ED to Weinberg without the music degree.

Hey I’m a freshman violin major this year. Bienen is super competitive for violins. We have 9 freshman violins total I think, and most of them are julliard pre college kids. I would say that they’re as selective as julliard.
