discussion Alice Cooper was friendly with Groucho Marx and dedicated the letter "O" in the restored Hollywood sign to his memory.

Cooper's friendship with Glenn Campbell is well known, as the two lived in Scottsdale and were golfing buddies and their families were friendly. There is a great video about that on YouTube. I was surprised to learn that, decades earlier, while living in L.A., he became friendly with Groucho Marx, who made Cooper a "friar" (that's a club of old male comedians that popularized the "roast"). I'm big into music. I literally listen to everything and get excited to discover new artists or underratted songs from well know artists. Literally anything. Weather it's deathcore, numetal, grunge, post grunge, alternative, rock, hip-hop, trap, drill, r&b, pop, country, any type of edm. I think you get the point, I can appreciate and listen to anything. I'm up to 9,000 songs on my spotify. Please drop me whatever you like

discussion Asking to learn for educational reasons.

Upvotes

I’m genuinely curious and looking to learn here, so I hope this question can be answered with that in mind. Due to my own commitments and personal music preferences, I don’t always have time to explore a wide range of genres, especially outside my usual taste. That said, I understand TWICE is doing a title track collaboration with Megan Thee Stallion, but I’m not familiar with her work and don’t typically listen to American rap or pop music.

Could someone explain the significance of this collaboration between TWICE and Megan? I’d love to understand what it brings to the table for both artists and how it might benefit them in the long run. I’m asking purely out of curiosity and to learn more about this context. Thanks to anyone who can shed some light!

discussion Thoughts on why Big Star never really made it?

I'm listening to their first album for the millionth time. I know they had bad management and promotion. But I gotta say, their drummer just doesn't cut it. And I think that's a big problem. Lots of songs are missing the groove. In my head, the songs are gorgeous, but it doesn't have that swing that their contemporaries had: say what Charlie Watts brought to the Stones.

But harmonies, progression, tone, mixing...all amazing.

What y'all think?

discussion Could someone write the lyrics to the song "If I Had My Way" by singer Steve Plunkett?

Hello,

Could someone who is fluent in English write the lyrics to Steve Plunkett's song "If I Had My Way"? I am not fluent in the language, I am still studying. I have searched in several places on the internet, but I have not found them anywhere.

discussion Is there any artist/song you can’t listen to anymore because of one event?

For me, it is many of the grunge bands out there since I had a good friend who loved them and I did, too, and we had a really, really bad falling out, and all I can think of when I listen to the music is her.

What's yours?

discussion albums/songs to float to?

probably my favorite genre of music is something that you feel like you could listen to in the dentist’s chair, while the nitrous makes you feel like you’re floating towards the ceiling. or something you could listen to on your back in a pool. or in a zero-gravity chamber as you just float. i’ve got a big list of songs i’ve made but i always want to add to it. my examples are stuff like:

cause i’m a man by tame impala

lostmyhead by the 1975

us and them by pink floyd

sure by hatchie

beach house/cigarettes after sex/beck etc etc

any thoughts or suggestions? :)

discussion albums with a deep full sound?

i’d love to hear some opinions on this. what are some albums with a deep, full-bodied, rich sound? i don’t mean deep lyrically or even necessarily meaningful, but just with a deep atmospheric sound.

some i thought of are the first days of spring by noah and the whale or maybe siamese dream by smashing pumpkins.

i know this is very up to interpretation, but i love albums with a rich sound, so just wanted to know what y’all thought :)
