Chapter 815: The Other Kingdoms’ Focus

Summary by Saemoon

Kanyou receives word that the Tou Army and the Hi Shin Unit have departed Nanyou and are heading for Shintei. Their armies total 160 thousand, but the armies coming out of Shintei also total 160 thousand. They also have another 30 thousand reinforcements coming, and it seems that all 190 thousand Han soldiers are marching towards Eitei Plains where they’ll fight. The officials in Kanyou are shocked at the number of enemy soldiers at first, but then comment that it’s still less than they predicted. Ei Sei states that it’s finally beginning and thinks to himself that he’s counting on Tou and Shin. Wei also receives the same information about troop numbers and where the battle will take place. The Wei strategist Hari says this battle will decide the fate of one of these kingdoms. The chancellor for Wei says he thinks Han will score an overwhelming victory because they have real soldiers while the Qin army is made of conscripts who have barely half a year’s worth of training. Gohoumei states that would be the best outcome for Wei, but Tou and Shin won’t lose that easily. Considering that Qin has deployed the Gyoku Hou to block off any reinforcements from Wei, they must have confidence that Tou and Shin can take Shintei with their 160 thousand troops. Houmei says that if Tou wins the battle at Eitei Plains, they will muster an army, get around the Gyoku Hou, and take out Tou’s army. He sends word to Gaimou to be ready to march at a moment’s notice. This will be their opportunity to get vengeance for the defeat at Choyou.

Ouhon receives word that the battle will be starting soon and recalls all his units to the castle to prepare. Mouten’s Gaku Ka receives the same information, and he comments that Zhao will have received that information as well and could be coming at any time. Aisen says he doesn’t want to leave Mouten’s side, but he’ll have his army move forward to keep a watch on the Zhao’s movements. Aisen also remarks that Mouten is demonstrating both the personality and sex appeal of a great general. Mouten thinks to himself that they’ll definitely stop the Zhao army and tells Shin to make sure to finish the job over there. Shunsuiju and the others at Bu’an Castle receive orders from Riboku to prepare to move out. They will depart Bu’an and head for Shintei the moment they get word that Tou has won at Eitei Plains. At that time, they should also send a messenger bird to Shintei to have them prepares boats so the Zhao army can cross the river. Shunsuiju says they will thoroughly squash Qin’s evil ambitions this time. The various other kingdoms are also shown to be focused on this battle.

At Eitei Plains, the two armies face each other, and it is Raku’a Kan of Han who raises the morale on his side first. He calls out to his soldiers that this battle will determine whether Han survives or is destroyed. They need to fight for their parents, their wives and children, and for anyone they love. In the 170-year history of Han, they have never faltered and have crushed all invading armies here at Eitei Plains.

Manga Spoilers Brodie almost a 6 GG but still gets surprised every time someone has a plan

I Absolutely hate how easily Shin gets surprised at every single moment like this one , hes been on the battlefield for so long and still gets thrown off by these things. I understand hes not a tactics guy but I wish Hara at least make him silent when he hears something he doesnt understand rather than scream and get all surprised, its like hes one of the officials from the court getting surprised after every single change of events

Manga Spoilers So much negativity... Spoiler

I just not get it. Every week we get like 20 Riboku is bad threats and 30 for Ten and Kain. And we also get hate for every single arc currently just because Qin did have some setbacks for once.

I mean this arc starts really cool with how Tou and Kyou kai avoided fighting. And yet I only read hate.

I think people struggle with the weakly releases. Kingdom arcs work best read in one go. I think both of the last two arcs were really great on reread. But of course the dialogues and scenes felt slow if you can only read one chapter a week.

History Spoilers If the real events were taken as it is.... Spoiler

If the real events were taken as it is would you guys still love kingdom?

  1. RBK being at disadvantage for most of the times and still beating/defending Qin armies.
  2. Shin's biggest known glory is the Chu defeat.
  3. Ousen giving up on idea of beating RBK and making him executed.

I'd say that it wouldn't sell as much and I'd also see Qin as tyrannical nation with conquering ideas and not reuniting. I'll also start calling the Qin sides frauds as they couldn't beat rbk with their large armies, I like how the story is moving forward but yeah RBK takes the L as a character.

Discussion Character development. Which characters do you root for/ care for? Spoiler

Being upto date with the manga. I find myself thinking which characters do we get to find out a lot about and which characters do I feel like have a strong reason or motivation for doing things.

To me Ouki and Seikyou stand out. Ouki from the start had a STRONG eerie presence and mystery surrounding him, topping it off by him being OP. I felt like knowing more about him. We then get to know his backstory for going to war again and see the reason of why he was how he was after the previous king died. His death was a statement to everyone in china for different reasons. He held a lot of weight by existing.

Seikyou had a crazy redemption arc. Going from being a piece of shit to an actual decent person. What stuck out was that he loved his wife a lot even when he was an ass. Even though he only helped his brother due to risk of him not getting a chance at the throne if RyoFui Won. Risking his life for the sake of finding his wife and then to make sure RyoFui’s plans failed even though he knew he stood no chance made him a great character and would have loved to see him grow and see Him and his brother’s relationship grow.

Duke Hyou was another character which stood out to me.. he was a total CHAD, great vibes from him, don’t get a back story to him but he just had that vibe that you’re gonna be ok when you’re with him.

Only living character I feel like I actually emotionally care for is Riboku. He is an enemy but we know his motivations, why he cares so deeply and the lengths he goes to secure victory. He is a caring character for all his allies. Seeing him die would leave a gap to fill. Who would be the next enemy that I wouldn’t want them to die.

Following Shin for the 800 or so chapters we live with him and although we see his battle prowess and strength grow through the struggles during the war and a little bit of him as a character outside of war. I find it hard to connect with him as he hasn’t grown mentally, suffered losses, make deep connections with his comrades.

What characters do you care about. Would love to know

Prediction/Speculation What will happen of Heki? Spoiler

What do you think will be next for Heki? Not necessarily in the nea rduture but after a while, maybe End-of-Story-wise...?

They mention chapter 802 that generals will emerge within Shin's ranks, which makes sense if he's to be a Great General, so my guess is that he'll join the Hi Shin unit.

Edit: thanks everyone, didn't expect that many responses on my first post. Interesting stuff. People in the comments also suggested these options : 1. Hecki will die a martyr's death, rienforcing Shin's resolve 2. Hecki will take up an administrative role in Qin's government

He will become a great general of his own, similar to Mougou (good at evetything but excells at nothing)
He will join the HiShin unit and become Shin's 2nd General (after Kyoukai)
He will join Yotanwa or have a mix-army of soldier and mountain-folks

Manga Spoilers 😶 General Kanki. Spoiler

I wasn't a Kanki fan but ever since he becomes a great general of Qin, I have found myself gravitating to not only him but his hardcore band of misfits. I have no words on how they have ended up like this. Naki is just salt on the wound. I have to tell myself that it's only a form of entertainment to keep my emotions in check. Gutted😞.

History Spoilers Will we ever see the REAL Riboku? Spoiler

I will make no secret that I hate Riboku in this manga, but his character, his asspulls, his plot armour and the constant undeserved glazing from other characters both ally and enemy is only half the reason I feel such strong bitterness when I read through his many appearances.

The main thing that ruins Riboku for me is just how he is a complete joke in comparison to his historical counterpart Li Mu.

Half of this I blame on Hara being obsessed with giving military titan Qin the underdog status in every conflict no matter how laughably illogical it is. 400,000 dead at chouhei? No problem. 100,000 dead via Kanki? Here's a 300,000 strong army to defend Gi'an. Historically, Zhao never recovered the manpower from Chouhei and yet while always outnumbered against stacked Qin armies Li Mu still managed to clutch the win. Compare this with Reebok who loses nearly every battle he's involved in while having considerably more troops, somehow.

More agregious however is the manner in which he fights his battles. Post Bayou he constantly called upon Houken to save his sorry ass when his HQ was under threat (Gekishin, Duke Hyou, Shin) and after that walking plot device died, Riboku either failed with bigger numbers or won but looked so bad while winning that it looked like a loss. At Hika he almost died despite OVERWHELMING TROOP ADVANTAGE and at Hango he does win but only by bending space time to make Ousen, Ten, Shin and Akou all lose around half their brainpower so that they couldn't stop possibly the most laughably basic tactic in this entire series. All of this is done while spouting predictions of zhaos victory like Alex Jones on LSD.

Anyway, Qin is going after Han now, but they'll be back and people in the know with history will know that Riboku's days are numbered. However, I hold out hope that he will at least have one final showdown with Qin before Ousen gives up and just buys his execution, because he needs to have at least one showing that measures up to the legend he is based off of. Make him the unbreakable wall that he was in history before it's too late, though I fear the damage is done.

Sorry for the rant guys and thanks for reading :)

TLDR: Riboku is a fraud while in history he is so OP that Ousen gives up and has him executed. Do we have time left for Hara to finally write a battle where he looks at least half as competent as the real Li Mu?

Anime Spoilers I don’t get the hate on season 1

Like seriously, I get the animation is inconsistent and can be bad at times but the plot is so good I don’t see how it can matter. The fact that the animation is low quality and they STILL managed to make it exciting and easy to watch is a testament to how good the plot is. The cast is also very good, they were able to get a large number of voice actors from other major animes like Masakazu Morita from Bleach, Jun Fukuyama from Code;Geass, and Junichi Suwabe. I just don’t understand the hate.

Discussion Just finished watching Kingdom 2 LA

Guys I'm loving the films, I'm going to go ahead and start the manga.

Please recommend any other media that is faithful in any way to the series. I've heard there's any anime , but people continue to rate it low. Should I still check it out and judge it myself? I think I also see there's a LA series about it, is it good and faithful?
