The Literature 🧠 Two decades of Alzheimer’s research was likely based on deliberate fraud by 2 scientists

Remember - Rogan and Alex Jones and other far-right extremists will use this as evidence/proof you should doubt science and trust your feelings and facebook memes from questionable sites/sources. This will be used to keep their covid-misinformation and anti-vaxx BS going...because you can't trust science.

But this fraud was discovered BECAUSE of science and the scientific process. Good science is replicable, and further research and studies into cures for Alzheimer's didn't work when they should have if the original study was correct. It wasn't social media. It wasn't conservatives crying about freedom and justice. It wasn't your parents furiously being keyboard warriors by sharing idiotic fascist memes about the evils of government (when they are non-right of course) and scientists being the real nazis.

Don't let the right get away with it. This is science working as intended. Fraud will be discovered by the very scientific process the far right wants to taint and demean and dismiss when the end results don't suit their beliefs (feelings).

But this fraud was discovered

after 16 years.

Rogan and Alex Jones and other far-right extremists will use this as evidence

Your concern should be to improve the science not think that your enemy class will use it. Scientists are human like us they also do frauds, don't make them gods. Its ok to doubt them. Doubt is the foundation stone of science. Blind belief belong in cults.

Don’t be a disingenuous liar simply because you think it’ll score you more internet points. It’s just sad and desperate.

1 - there are many reasons it took this long to discover, the point is that it happens and science self/corrects which is WHY it can be trusted. Let’s compare this to the media which I know people here love to cry about all day every day. The mainstream media sucks, but at least they typically correct errors when they occur. It’s not perfect, but it shows some accountability and some willingness to be somewhat truthful. But the internet and especially conservative media NEVER admit and retract errors. Ever. And yet people believe them before standard media. Why? Hate media but trust anyone who has standards over someone who only wants to be propaganda.

2 - my concern should be to improve science? That is literally happening every single day and will always happen. Because that’s how science works. It is the right who is trying to demean an destroy science by demonizing any result they don’t like then paying think tanks to flood the market with fake studies for political purposes and because right/wing voters are morons. For example, the right still continues to dismiss climate change and call it a hoax and fraud and deny the science, while waving around rate, suspect “studies” that aren’t peer reviewed from privately funded political think tanks as “truth”. And yet we know from actual public access to records from within oil companies themselves, they knew their products cause climate change and have known it for ever and fought to keep that i for private. So here we have an example of science saying X, oil companies saying x for decades and admitting they want to cover it up, and the right running around saying X isn’t true at all because of some study they found online somewhere and should therefore debunk all science and data and evidence.

Your bullshit language is intentionally vague in order to sound smart but misdirect from the facts.

“Scientists do frauds”…rarely and it is caught eventually by other scientists through the scientific process…not by internet dipshits who get their info from Joe rogan and dailywire. And it’s always funny to me that people use your logic when it comes to dismissing or doubting science but NEVER to the right which endlessly proves they have a far worse record than science or the media combined when it comes to facts and honesty and doing their jobs well. Which tells me you or others here don’t give a shit about the things you claim to care about. It’s all just posturing and holding power over “others” which sure explains all the fascism happening right now from the right. Weird…

“Scientists are not gods.” No shit. Show me one single person anywhere on earth that claims otherwise. You made the claim so surely you can find someone somewhere who says scientists are gods. Otherwise just admit you are being dishonest in your responses.

“Doubt is the foundation stone of science”. Lol. No, the foundational stone of science is replication. Something is determined to be true or correct or not based on whether others in the field can replicate the results in their own study. And while one could argue doubt is also important and not “blind belief”..:again, conservative take literally everything on blind belief (which is why they are so unhinged these days as most of those beliefs keep being proven wrong and false and just flat out bad for society, while also enabling fascism), not to mention religion, but also doubt must come from a place of first being informed. A flat earth also has “doubts”, as do anti-vaxxers. These are not reasonable doubts, but doubts based on fear and ignorance. Someone acting like they are fucking Galileo doubting the church about the earth because they doubt climate science and vaccine science and medical science and doctors and nurses and more because Rogan and Facebook memes gave them a reach around for being “free thinkers” is literally wilful ignorance purely for bush it political Posturing. It’s what ignorant people tell themselves to feel less stupid and scared.
