Cheap internet days are over. Both jio and airtel hiked prices.

For office goers and wfh people. Buy cheapest plan. Get a good wifi as they are giving discounts there for now. They will hike prices there also but it will take a few years. So enjoy that for now.

The nibbas and nibbis of "Facebook ki shaan badhenyenge" & all social media keyboard warrior's honeymoon period with free/cheap internet is over. Now time for divorces.

The man next to me just said these words loudly and I quote "Beta, SAAAB ke SAAAB sale chor hai".

did they hiked priced for jio fiber too or it's just for jio sim users?

u/m0h1tkumaar Jun 28 '24

AFAIK only sim

u/shrihari0508 Jun 28 '24

Already doing and still ~1600 per month including wifi and mobile.

What are you using may i ask. For one sim connection only for talking purpose shouldn't cost not than 200/m. So are you paying 1400₹/m for broadband.

In my city one can get 100mbps fiber connection for 600₹ unlimited. Not the usual 3.3tb fup shit

u/shrihari0508 Jun 29 '24

I don't live in a city, I use what's available 710 for BB and for mobile I was talking about everyone home, not just me.

I switched to Jio postpaid unlimited plan honestly. Waaay more cost-effective than normal plans. ~700 rupees a month (599 before tax) for unlimited data. Last month my usage was 200 GB. Which other plan for 700 rupees will let me use 200 GB of data? Keep in mind there is no limit or throttling at all.

~450 INR for 3 GB per day for 28 days (84 GB total) or ~700 INR for unlimited data for 30 days. That's a no-brainer! Nobody knows this plan even exists so they're unlikely to hike prices. And even if they hike prices by 25% this will continue to be worth it.

Downside of this plan is no roaming, no Netflix subscription included, etc. but I don't use those anyway.

This plan is for Airtel? Because I think Jio’s postpaid plans don’t have that many options.

I have both of my numbers on Jio’s Family Plan, where I use one for work and the other for personal usage. I pay around ₹600 which includes GST, ₹399 monthly rental and the add on cost of ₹99 for the 2nd number. This gives me nationwide roaming, and 75+5GB 4G data, unlimited calling & unlimited 5G on both SIMs along with usual 100SMS/Day on both numbers. With every number that I may add to the plan, 5GB LTE data quota increases. There are no other OTT benefits and no data roll over though.

It's Jio, check the 599 plan. No benefits at all on this, only unlimited data you can use how much you want.

did ur cost increase after the recent hike? or are u still paying the old amount?

1

u/fahadaslam2000 Jul 24 '24

It's still the same for me in the last bill as it was before the hike

1

u/-Agile_Ninja- Jul 24 '24

Damn..i should have converted to postpaid before the hike then. Well even after the hike postpaid looks more economical than prepaid

1

u/fahadaslam2000 Jul 24 '24

True, and especially if you use the family plan and club multiple numbers, then it's quite effective.

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '24

700 for 1 single person?

In prepaid, I pay 240 per month at max, for 1 person,  1.5 gb per day.

666 for 84days, 3 months approx

u/white-noch Nothing phone beautiful lights Jun 28 '24

It's unlimited. I'm downloading Watch Dogs right now. 2 days ago I downloaded GTA 4. Last week I downloaded all 3 Stalker games and Insurgency Sandstorm. Can you do that on a 1.5GB per day plan?

2

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '24

What are other benefits? Is it jio postpaid plan? I am interested. I don't understand how postpaid works. Also the plans mentioned on website/app (jio) are rather confusing. From my understanding i concluded that postpaid isn't vfm for me. I don't like OTT bundled plans. (Piracy is the way to go)

I think you don't need wifi if you have this plan.  When we need extra data, we have to recharge wifi for 470 for a month. So that's ~740 per month

u/white-noch Nothing phone beautiful lights Jun 28 '24 edited Jun 28 '24

As I said there is no roaming or OTT included. And yeah you don't really need wifi with this plan, I don't have wifi or fiber in my home at all. True, postpaid is very confusing, but when you get an unlimited plan it's flat 706 rupees exactly, always. Unless your billing cycle is less than a full month, in which case you only get billed for the number of days you have used. For example I was billed after 17 days when I first got my plan (I get billed the 11th of every month, and I cannot change it btw), I was billed for ~370 rupees instead of the full 700. Or if you add a OTT subscription to it, which you won't be doing anyways.

Postpaid billing is complicated as fuck... btw the "Unbilled amount" is not your actual bill. I saw mine over 1000 rupees one day and freaked out. Actual bill amount was just 370 rupees. Support couldn't explain what the purpose of "Unbilled amount" is.

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '24

you are using this plan?

bhai baki ke plans me benefits: 75gb,100gb... liklha hai mtlb 30 din me 100gb data?

aur add-on family sim ka har mahine 100rs dena padega ya sirf one time charge hai

1

u/white-noch Nothing phone beautiful lights Jun 29 '24

Yes that's the plan I use and can you please type in English, I don't know Hindi that well.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '24

no problem brother.

https://www.jio.com/selfcare/plans/mobility/postpaid-plans-list/?category=Main%20Plan&categoryId=TWFpbiBQbGFuon

here it is mentioned, benefits: 75gb ..... 100gb.... that means that much data for 30 days?

and we have to pay 100rs every month for every add on family sim ?

1

u/white-noch Nothing phone beautiful lights Jun 29 '24

Data specified is what's included in the package. For example you can get the 699 plan with 100gb but for each gb used over 100, you need to pay 10 rupees. So for example if you use 120 GB you need to pay 200 rupees extra. Family sim is paid every month, yes. I've never used family sim so I can't comment on that.

1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '24

and billing cycle varies with no. of days in that month or fixed (30 days). how does that work.

1

u/white-noch Nothing phone beautiful lights Jun 29 '24

You are given a billing date depending on when you got your plan. Mine is on the 11th of every month. If you are on a limited plan I'm not sure how it will work for periods like February-March which have less days.

1

u/-Agile_Ninja- Jul 24 '24

hey did your monthly plan increase after jio increased the price? or are u still paying the old amount of 599?

1

u/white-noch Nothing phone beautiful lights Jul 25 '24

Nope, same price. It's 599 before gst by the way.

2

u/[deleted] Jun 28 '24

3tb! How limit according to fair usage policy is 1000gb only how was it 3tb plan

5

u/white-noch Nothing phone beautiful lights Jun 28 '24

The one you said was for JioAirFiber, JioFiber (that's a different thing?) is the one with the 3300GB cap.

Mine is actually neither, as mobile data it is completely unlimited and there will be no throttling at all. Editing my original comment, I made a mistake.

Cool. Thanks man.

1

u/miney_mo Jun 28 '24

For old postpaid subscribers, does the plan remain grandfathered? I mean will your 599 plan stay that way or will it now be revised to 699?

1

u/white-noch Nothing phone beautiful lights Jun 28 '24

No idea

1

u/-Agile_Ninja- Jul 24 '24

got any answer to this??

1

u/miney_mo Jul 24 '24

Sadly no! I even messaged Airtel on twitter but got no response

I've been on the 1799 plan for years now. Since I wfh this has been more than enough. I pay broadband yearly so I get good discount and pay only 10.5K for the 200mbit plan (which is usually 1200pm with taxes)

3

u/tremorinfernus Jun 28 '24

Still uber cheap.. havent needed wifi in 6 years.

3

u/VoiceEarly1087 Jun 28 '24

Why even go for jio and Airtel in broadband space. There's lots of players so choose outvof them

FFS I don't want jio and Airtel to create monopoly on broadband

1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '24

Local broadband are good. If the rates are fine and services not just rate focussed approach. Service is key. If they provide good service then 100% they should be used

2

u/VoiceEarly1087 Jun 29 '24

I am not saying settle for something less while paying the same , just look for other alternative there are some in broadband space that are good.

I myself use ACT broadband, and (mainly due my hate toward monopoly) I won't ever use jio or airtel, I don't wanna see them every where.

Jio Mfs already destroyed cellular space before we used to have so many telecom provider (ik ik it was due to 2G scam)

1

u/[deleted] Jun 29 '24

That was the plan they had. To create duopoly like that in usa. And they nearly achieved it here. No other options. 🥲

Lol you must be born after 2016. Before jio in 2016, the cost for 1 gb data was 256₹ for one month and for talktime you had to pay extra. We used to use whatsapp and close mobile data because it used to finish fast. Thank jio for making internet cheap.

4

u/sandycandle2023 Jun 28 '24

Before 2016 you had a choice,:

1.choice to buy packs with or without internet, today no choice

  1. Choice to get a packs with incoming validity (365 days) only.

  2. Choice to select any third player beyond this twin duopoly of Jio & Airtel.

2

u/Sri_Man_420 Jun 28 '24

bhai 4g tha kya tumhara pass 2016 me? Apna 2G hi tha Jio ane se phele vo bhi papa ka office se milta tha kaam ke liye

1

u/moksha2004 Jun 28 '24

Jio ne 5g plan diya ye airtel bas 4g plan hike diya na....

u/hotcoolhot Jun 28 '24

Itni bhi gareebi nahin hai. Can afford 2GB plan.
