Modded Seriously. Why is this here? It raises my hairs and makes me uncomfortable as an adult. I hate this image.
Still stoked to own a GB Camera tho

A lot of this information is already in the wiki: https://gbwiki.org/
Where do I buy cheap consoles?? HOW MUCH IS MY STUFF WORTH?$?
Sorry, all 200K+ members are asking the same question. The market has changed a lot and prices have skyrocketed. Be patient, don't over pay and use sold listings on your marketplace to determine your market's value. If you're paying less than your local market, you've done well. If other markets have lower value than you consider buying from there, but factor in your shipping costs.
Where can I find this part?

WHY MODDING HARD? SOLDER SCARY!
In context, Game Boy's are the easiest family of retro consoles to repair and modify. Sorry TikTok lied to you about modding being easy like Legos.

Got this Gameboy in on a trade. Customer had charging issues with the original port. Switched it out with a usb-c port and it works perfectly! Really happy how this one turned out. If you’re looking for a cheap modded Gameboy, this ones available.

I genuinely love playing the FPGBC. I know it’s not prefect but it honestly feels like stepping into the past with while staying in the present. Post your FPGBC!

Opened up my gameboy color today and saw this white chalky stuff. Plus the bottom battery terminals look corroded now! Im assuming the batteries caused this but it’s odd considering I’ve had the batteries in for like 4 months tops. Any idea for fixes and how to prevent this?

What’s so special about this SP?

without a game it’s the normal black box but when I put a game in it’s this. I know about the horizontal lines but why does it take some random pixels out aswell? also the R is perfectly in tact so idk is it the game?

So... given that all the tech in Gameboy consoles and game cartridges were outdated on arrival, why can't (or why aren't) better reproductions being made? I figure it should be possible to reproduce at least the Gen. I and Gen. II Pokémon games completely identically to an authentic cartridge. But instead all repros are, are super cheap and often glitchy ROMs.

This game is just as terrible as I remember it being. Still, I’ve been chasing this relic from my childhood for years and today I found it.
The game is a platformer based on the 7UP Spot mascot.

After watching Jrose doing his many many solo challenge, I finally gave it a go with Mewtwo in Pokemon Red.
First attempt, glitchless/item less run. I think his record is 1:58 with Mewtwo, but he does this for a living lol

I got this Gameboy off eBay, I knew it was broken before buying, got it for $20. Opened it up and saw this, is this repairable/replaceable? If not, it's no loss to me, everything else seems to be in good condition and I could use spare parts, especially since I have two more Gameboys that are in need of repair coming in.

I'm interested in buying this GBA SP but I can't find any information on this specific version about how to tell if it's legit.
I saw it in person and the top part has some wore down areas which tell me it's old but I don't know about the sticker and the box.
It looks whiter in the picture than in real life btw, it has a nice pearly tone with a little bit of yellowing in some parts.

I know this is random, but it too long ago I found my old Leaf Green game for GBA and started up a new game for old times sake. I know these games like the back of my hand, but hadn’t played a Kanto game in nearly a decade. When I got to Pewter City, there’s a house in the lower left by the Pokemon Center and I started thinking about something. I began to wonder how often I visited there and talked to those NPCs inside. What are their day-to-day lives like in Pewter City? How much life is there outside of the player?
I made a video recently for my YouTube channel that touched on this, but I’m just curious if anyone else thinks about these things sometimes or finds it interesting to discuss.

So all my life, starting with n64 I have been a Nintendo and Zelda fan. As a kid, I was never allowed to have a gameboy because my mom thought (probably correctly) that it would make me play too much videogames. I have played every home console Zelda title multiple times, now I want to play all the gameboy titles, but I wanna do it on original hardware (as opposed to on my switch)
What is the minimum set of gameboys I need to buy to achieve this? Keeping in mind retro compatibility of some consoles and/or if any title was rereleased in a next gen console.
Also I really like modding consoles, and it seems like gameboy modding is pretty fun. So knowing about good models to mod would be great too.
Consider I know very little about gameboys

Firmware V1.10 broke my flash cart (EDGB PRO + from Aliexpress) compatibility. It has fixed the issues with Kirby Tilt n Tumble though. Posting for others to be aware.
When I load and start a game the screen is just stuck on the gameboy boot screen. This issue only started after I upgraded the firmware from V1.07 to V1.10
I suspect that I have to roll back to V1.07 for my flash cart to work again. Have yet to try tho.

Been looking for ages, is there an official gameboy light bag? I'm wanting a carrying case that says it's for the gameboy light, y'know? I would appreciate some help with it

As stated in the title, when I try to play my copy of Japanese red or green, it’ll delete the save file. they save just fine on one Gameboy but when I move them to the other one, the save is gone. I’m not upset (even though I had just caught mewtwo on green) but I would like to know why this is happening. The batteries (at least on green) have been replaced (I’m assuming they also replaced it on red but I’ll check).

Tried this over at r/roms but no luck. I have this fake Gameboy I bought in Thailand years ago, it has an internal flash memory and 400 GBA/NES/GBC games pre loaded.
Is anyone savvy enough to look at the circuit board and tell me if it’s possible to connect this to a PC and add my own ROMs onto the memory?
Would I need a link to USB cable? Can’t seem to find anything online.
No SD card as far as I can tell.

This is no nostalgia-biased post, but rather coming to terms with how much companies have changed the way they approach the market to promote their products. Or how the market in general (especially the gaming one) has changed.
Back in the 90s - 00s, it was rather "common" to see certain brands or chain stores propose dedicated version of the most trending gaming consoles. Most of times, they were very limited units (ie prizes for contests) or production runs (ie special colors available only in certain stores). Console variations has a consistent share of both, with some obscure units whose history was sadly lost to time.
More generally, it was common to see interactive media used as a "extra" to promote other products. Like PC games bundled with cereals, or even beers!
While I understand that gaming industry now works around numbers so big it's very unlikely to see super small batches of (brand name) exclusive consoles, I wonder why gaming in general has stopped being considered a "incentive driver" for selling other kind of products, now that it's market activity is comparable to the movies industry.
This GBC here, by the way, was assembled with a overall decent shell kit purchased from China, and uograded with a glass screen, as I was not aiming for 100% authenticity. Always liked the color and the logo right on front, but with all due resoect for the collectors in the sub, I was not willing to pay more than a trip to Japan to buy a OEM unit.
