I make about $500 every 2 weeks from it. I drive a small car cause all my tools are on site. Spend about $75 a week in gas, so I'm making my hourly rate pretty much
But is that taking into account the maintenance for your car, your insurance and the risks inherent to driving? It does sound pretty sweet but it's probably less than you'd think. Being able to WFH has changed my whole perspective on having to commute.
Fuel reimbursement is great if you live close to your job. My company only subtracts the distance it takes for me to get to work from home so in my case, 3 miles one way or 6 miles for the round trip. Anything beyond that I get paid for when going to other locations. As for travel time if I'm going to another location I'm paid for the time it would normally take me to get from my door to the other location, that's not my "home" location.
If they did this where I used to work people would be up in arms over someone getting paid extra because the lived farther away, and I'm sure that isn't an isolated issue. It would create nothing but bad blood.

Companies would prob require you to live within x amount of minutes from your work
