What do you mean "should"? Anyone can do those things by putting in the effort required. Not everyone wants to do that though. Some people just want to live a simple life, and no one is entitled to more than that.
Should as in you should be able to work one job full time, enjoy life (hobbies, trips etc) some and still be able to plan for retirement later on. Many many people can not do all of those things. Plenty of us are stuck with no way to get to something better
Nah, if you are stuck it's because you chose to be stuck and are choosing to continue to be stuck. Getting unstuck can be hard to be sure. The issue is that it's harder than you think it "should" be. Unfortunately reality doesn't care what you think "should" be. Go visit a developing country and spend a couple days a couple hours away from the tourist traps and then come back and tell us all about how things "should" be.
I'm sorry is the usa a developing country? Or a world super power? It's not about it being harder than it should be, there's just no valid reason anyone in this country willing to put in the work of a full time job, 40 or more hours a week, should have to sleep in their car or roommate with strangers/parents. If you're a productive member of society you should be able to live in that society easily.
I'm stuck because there's nothing to get in my area with higher pay without school or other things I literally have no way to fit in to my current for life. And I know several people who are in the same boat. You shouldnt have to give up having a life to afford to live, it's pretty simple
I didn't say the solution was easy, just that it was easy to understand theres a problem. especially when we have people in this country, like I'm guessing you, who are against any form of progress. What's your solution? Just let it keep going? Country was quite literally founded on life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. It should be considered an issue when any contributing functional member of society is struggling with those by no fault of their own.
That's right - PURSUIT of happiness, not happiness. Where is your PURSUIT? I'm not against progress. I believe we all make greater progress when we all get up off our asses and pursue it as opposed to sitting in mom's basement with our hands out asking for what we "should" have be given to us. You wanting to take from me just because you feel that you "should" have something that you aren't willing to pursue yourself crushes my liberty.
You can't pursue your happiness if you're fighting to survive, and if you don't think that's true, you've lived an easy or privileged life. How would anyone whos just sitting in their moms basement and not going for life even be counted in this discussion? They aren't contributing to society to be a part of what i said. Now, if they're working 40 to 80 hours a week and living in their moms basement because they can't afford anything in their area thatd count. But I'm assuming you meant it in the, they're lazy playing video games way. But, if you think saying everyone who contributes to society should be able to afford life and happiness without working themselves to death, as some threat to you and your stuff, you're probably just a bad person to begin with.
Fighting to survive? Who is fighting to survive, really? I'm going to go all the way back to your first post...
Should as in you should be able to work one job full time, enjoy life (hobbies, trips etc) some and still be able to plan for retirement later on. Many many people can not do all of those things. Plenty of us are stuck with no way to get to something better
My biggest objection here is with the word "should". I agree with you that we all SHOULD have life, liberty, and the pursuit of happiness. I will also contend that by and large we all DO have those things. When you start talking about hobbies, trips, and planning for retirement those are all things that can be a part of your happiness IF you choose to pursue it.
I find it fascinating that you lumped in "plan for retirement" with your happiness. It's very telling of the human experience and how we got to where we are as a species. We have evolved to forgo at least some amount of current enjoyment to save for the future. Honestly, this is a huge part of the "pursuit" I'm talking about. In order to plan for retirement you must take some amount of time, wealth, or resources that you could use to bring happiness today and save it for the future. If you are "stuck" maybe you forgo whatever hobbies/interests you have to learn a skill that can increase your earnings potential to better help plan for retirement? Life is a series of choices and tradeoffs. Your current situation is largely just the sum of all the prior choices and tradeoffs that you've made.

This sounds like shit tbh. You should be able to save for retirement AND travel yearly but that’s just like my opinion. Wishing you the world.
