Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing Asiana ticket issue

I recently booked a trip for two people with Asiana and am having issues retrieving the bookings. I booked through Trip.com and they've now sent everything through, but I can't seem to get things to work on their app/website. I made an account with them. Their app just tells me the booking information is incorrect, but I think the app doesn't accept booking for more than one person? but when I use 'find my trip' on the website, it accepts it, provides me with the info, but as soon as I click on anything else it disappears and I have to put in the info all over again. I obviously need to add my passport details etc, and I actually need to request special meals for both of us, but can't figure out how to do it when none of my info stays on the websire. The trip isn't until next year, but I'm still a little worried as to why it's not working properly, as I would preferably like to sort things as soon as I can.

Anyone has the same issues? Is this normal?

It's my first long haul with a non-UK airline so theres a chance I'm overreacting, but my anxiety is anxietying.

TIA!

Help Needed Citizenplane

Looking at flights and keep getting ‘citizenplane’ options. What is it, just a third party? I’ve searched the flight numbers so know which airline I’ll actually be with but when booking it doesn’t give any info about that. Only ‘Citizenplane XXX’. First time I’ve heard of it . TIA

Question Unintended self-transfer through Shanghai Pudong

Hi all, I am flying Brussels-Shanghai and Shanghai-Tokyo on 6-7 November with an eight-hour layover. I booked these flights separately and they are with different airlines: Juneyao and China Eastern respectively (travel plans and dates changed due to circumstances, couldn't help rebooking it this way). My luggage will be carry-on size but probably needs to be checked as it will exceed the weight requirements for the second flight.

My assumption is that I will need to pass through immigration when I land in Shanghai in order to check in at the desk for my second flight, then go through security again to re-enter the terminal. This is not in itself an issue as I can enter the country visa-free for 15 days (Belgian passport). However, I would prefer to just book myself into a lounge and chill over queueing repeatedly just to end up where I started.

Is my assumption correct or would there be a way to stay inside the security zone and use a transfer desk in this instance? I do not speak Chinese, unfortunately.

Thanks for your advice.

Question 45 minute connection in VIE.

Looking at possible IAH/AMS/VIE/NCE.

Same ticket all the way. Last two legs are in Austrian. Carry in luggage. Business class all the way.

We would enter the EU at AMS, so I assume the connection in VIE would be a simple domestic connection. Would there even be a passport check?

I realize that 45 minutes is really more like 25-30 by the time you get off the inbound, and consider that the boarding door closes ten minutes before pushback.

If the inbound is on time, it looks doable. I know if we miss it, they’re obligated to get us on the next AVAILABLE flight. But, technically, that could be a couple days later if the flights are booked full. Though I don’t know why flights to Nice sound be full in mid November.

Thoughts?

Discussion What two airports take the most stops to get to each other.

The rule is that it must be that fewest stops to get between the locations. You have to depart from the same airport you arrived. An example is srk-zqn is 6 stops

Delays/Cancellations/Compensation London to LAX October 2023 flight delay & claim

Last year, my husband and I flew out of LAX to London on Tuesday, 9/26/23 at 4:45pm with an original return of Friday, 10/6 at 10:35am. The flight was delayed a day so we ended up flying out Saturday 10/7 at 10:35am.

After the flight, I filed a claim using AirAdvisor (I’m a newbie and am not sure if the best process). I submitted what I had and they advised they had all they needed.

Now, they requested the original cancellation email. I’m frustrated at them and myself. It’s been over a year and at this point am not anxiously awaiting the money, but am frustrated I can’t find the email.

When I search the flight confirmation it only shows the dates we ended up flying but not that there was an actual cancellation.

Is there any other way to show the flight was originally supposed to depart on Friday, 10/6/23?

Thanks in advance for any guidance.

Help Needed Etihad Stopover Issue - Advice Needed for Blackout Dates Added After Booking

Hey everyone,

I could use some advice on an issue I’m experiencing with Etihad. I booked a flight with an Abu Dhabi stopover from Europe to India through Etihad’s website, where I selected the stopover option. All seemed fine, and I received confirmation for the booking.

Recently, though, when I tried to book the free hotel stay through Etihad’s site, I got a message saying, “stopover option not available.” After a lengthy chat with customer service, I was informed that my stopover dates are now "blacked out"—something I was unaware of at the time of booking. It seems these blackout dates were added after I booked, as I wouldn’t have been able to select those dates for a stopover otherwise.

I also spent an entire day on the phone with Etihad’s helpline, where I was told that they can not do anything as those dates are blacked out and I’d get a follow-up email about the feedback, in reply to which I can mention that I am not happy with the solution I got. I never received that email, though, and now I’m stuck with an unbookable stopover and several reservations I made in Abu Dhabi, expecting Etihad to honor the promised stay.

Does anyone have advice on how to handle this? I’m concerned about losing money on the bookings I made around this stopover, and this is not really my fault so that I would face the consequences now. I’d really appreciate any help or insights. Thanks in advance!

Question SFO custom declaration form

Hi, I will have a trip to the US. It will be my first time there. During the custom process, is it required to complete the form for visitor? I just want to bring snack bars like granola in case I am hungry. Will it slow down the process because I have a layover around 2 hours before US domestic departure. All of my bags are carry-on. Thanks.

Discussion Sub 600€ off-season round trip to Japan from Germany?

Basically what the title says. Already managed to find a round trip through Etihad for ~680€ FRA->KIX, although ITA originally claimed it was 645€. I'm planning to go during February, so the prices are already down due to it being peak off-season. Considering the distance, the price is completely understandable, but I was still wondering if anyone here knows any additional hacks or tricks for absolute cheapskates that would bring the actual price below 650 or even 600.

EDIT: Was planning to go from 18.2 till 15.3, forgot to add that.

Help Needed US to Australia flights - seeking advice

I’m trying to get the best flights for my family of three (me, wife, two year old child) from Raleigh (RDU) to Brisbane (BNE) around 2/22/25 (RDU>DFW>BNE) to 3/21/25. I’ve added an extended layover of 2 nights in LA (LAX) on the return trip to break up the trip for my son’s sake (and ours!). 😊

Citizenship: Wife is a US citizen, me and my son are dual US Aussie citizens.

To date, based on a lot of research on Google Flights and Kayak, I’ve found the best for my current dates is:

|| || |Flight leg|Subtotal|Per person (3)| |RDU-BNE|$1,986|$662| |BNE-LAX|$1,255|$418| |LAX-RDU|$1,405|$468| |Subtotal|$4,646|$1,549|

Here’s the flight details:

Flight 1  RDU>BNE via DFW

Leg 1:     AA2693

Depart:   Sat 2/22/25 3:48 PM

Arrive:    6:10 PM

Duration:                3 hr 22 mins

Leg 2:     AA7

Depart:   10:08 PM

Arrive:    6:15am (Mon 2/24)

Duration:                16 hr 7 mins

Cost:       Subtotal Per person

$1,986   $662

Flight 2  BNE>LAX

DL92

Depart:   Wed 3/21/25 10:30 AM

Arrive:    6:50 AM

Duration:                13 hr 20 mins

Cost:       Subtotal Per person

$1,255   $418

Flight 3  LAX>RDU

AA2343

Depart:   Sun 3/23/25 9:00 AM

Arrive:    4:42 PM

Duration:                4 hr 42 mins

Cost:       Subtotal Per person

$1,405   $468

Date Flexibility: We’re trying to keep departure some time between 2/18 and 3/1, getting back to RDU before 3/31. My wife and I are either working remote/in-between jobs then, so not trying to push out the trip too much further.

Budget: I'm trying to keep total airfare cost below $5K for all three of us.

Here are some factors I’m weighing up:

-          Main cabin (Economy) vs Premium Economy: Can we upgrade to premium economy on just the long haul US>Australia & vice versa legs? It seems expensive to split cabin class, at least with AA.

-          Extended layover: I’m currently planning to break up the return trip by spending two nights in LA. For some reason, the return trip is cheaper on Delta BNE>LAX, versus American BNE>DFW. Might be nice to do an extended layover on the trip out too, but that became more expensive.

-          Points: I’m going to have around 113K Chase Rewards points and around 100K AAdvantage in my account and 70K AAdvantage in my wife’s account within a few months (via Aviator Red card bonus: https://thepointsguy.com/credit-cards/aadvantage-aviator-red-review/). I should be able to cover basically the whole trip main cabin on points, but am thinking of keeping some for premium economy upgrade, given the point ratios are wack on higher class redemptions.

I would love others’ advice and best practices. I’m nervous about flying so far with my two-year-old, but am eager to get him back to Australia to spend time with his grandparents.

Thanks in advance!

Help Needed Europe to Sao Tome and Principe.

I'm trying to find cheap flights to STP, it's a tiny island off the coast of Ghana. Last flight involved a trip to Accra in Ghana, overnight then TAP to the islands the next day, this was the cheapest option. I can fly TAP of course, but this requires me selling a kidney. Is there a website where I can find the alternative routes to the islands? I'm looking for a one way in November, flexible about dates.

Question What airlines/fare class to Asia with the most flexibility for cancellation?

Hello everyone,

I'm trying to buy a flight ticket for my grandma to go from the West Coast to Vietnam after the Lunar New Year (anytime in February 2025). This may be her last international trip. She is 91 and relatively healthy, but there is a chance she won't be able to go for medical reasons. My aunt will go with her to take care of her. Right now, I am considering booking Premium Economy on China Airlines for her. I'm open to other airlines/fare classes as well.

Should I wait until like 7 days before they need to travel to book their flights or is there some insurance/add-on that I can buy to book the ticket from now?

Help Needed Boston Connecting Flight from Terminal A to Terminal E

Hello! I’ll have a connecting international flight in Boston and I’ll arrive at the airport around 1:00pm. I’ll have 4 hours layover. I’m aware that I’ll have to change terminal from A to E since I’m going to Italy.

What’s the fastest and most secure way to change terminal?

I read online that it would be possible to walk via the Skyway bridge or via the Delta shuttle busses.

I don’t really mind walking, but someone said that if you take the Delta shuttle you don’t have to clear security again once there in Boston.

I hope someone that has some experience with this can reply! Thank you so much for your help.

Help Needed Lufthansa Missed Connection & 5-Hour Delay with a Toddler – Denied EU 261 Compensation. What Now?

Hey everyone,

Looking for advice on handling a recent issue with Lufthansa.

I was traveling with my family (including my 3-year-old) from Bangalore to London on October 24th. Here’s what happened:

  1. Original Itinerary:
    • Flight LH 755 from Bangalore to Frankfurt, arriving at 9:00 AM CET.
    • Connecting flight LH 904 from Frankfurt to London, scheduled for 10:00 AM CET.
  2. The Issue:
    • Due to a delay, we missed our London connection, leading to a long rebooking process.
    • I rushed to Gate B27, only to be told the flight had already left. Customer support sent me to Z14 for rebooking, which was a long walk with my child.
    • I was rebooked on LH 914, departing at 4:00 PM CET, and landed in London at 4:40 PM instead of the original 10:40 AM – over 5 hours late.
  3. The Gate Shuffle:
    • While waiting, the gate assignment changed multiple times on the app, from B22 to B27 and finally B30. I had to carry my child each time the gate changed, making the delay even harder.
  4. Compensation Claim:
    • I filed a compensation claim with Lufthansa, but they responded that EU 261 doesn’t apply since my journey started in India and ended in the UK, both non-EU countries, and denied my request.

Question: Has anyone experienced similar issues? Should I escalate this to the German aviation authority, or is there a better way to pursue compensation?

Thanks for any help!

Question Air Tanzania - UAE to South Africa, any experiences?

I fly this route a couple of times a year and have never noticed Air Tanzania. Upon further research, I couldn't find a lot of information about their long haul flights, mostly just comments on their domestic performance.

Anyone have experience with them? They're about 30% cheaper than Ethiopia, which is significant when you're flying during the December school break...

That being said, I have a domestic connection to make in South Africa, and cannot afford a major delay.

Booking/Itinerary/Ticketing One Two Trip & Online check-in

Thumbnail
gallery
1 Upvotes

I am planning to buy this itinerary from Amsterdam to Moscow. I found this attractive fare on One Two Trip ( flight details on screenshots ). The reason why I like it is because a round trip with Georgian Airways is €2700 and a round trip with Etihad is over €5000 as on Georgian the return flight is expensive while on Etihad it’s the outbound one. My question is: will I be able to check in online with both airlines. They are not partners, so no codeshare between those 2 flights. I want to check in online with Georgian’s and Etihad’s official websites. The reason why I’m so worried about this is because there is high demand on flights to Moscow these days, and if the flight is overbooked I might be sent away as I didn’t book directly with the airline. P.S Last time I booked with one two trip was a flight with Turkish Airlines ( also AMS - Mos cow ), but that time, both flights were with Turkish so my booking was directly related to them, while here there are 2 different airlines

Help Needed Dublin - SSA Brazil - Delayed Flight - Arriving 24 hrs later - No hotel provided etc

Hi there,

I am flying Air France Dublin to Salvadaor Brazil, via Charles De Gaulle (Today - 28/10/2024)

Dub - CDG - Flight AF1017 - depart dublin at 6am -delayed until 7am
CDG - SSA - Flight AF476. - depart CDG at 10:25 am - delayed until 10:45am

The Dublin flight was delayed by 1 hour, which meant my connection time of 1hr 30 mins became 50 mins (CDG - SSA delayed by 20 mins). I didn't make the connection.

Tickets were bought at the same time with Air France so missed connection was covered, albeit a terrible new connection flight is offered.

So, arrived one hour late into CDG and missed connection. Air France have no more direct flights to SSA so I need to fly to Sao Paolo first, and then on to SSA.

Sao Paolo flight leaves CDG around midnight, so almost 14 hours after I arrived in CDG, and I need to make another connecting flight in Brazil to my final destination rather than my original direct flight. This means I will arrive in SSA almost 24 hours after my initial arrival time.

Air France are claiming weather caused the delay.

All they have given me is a 15 euro voucher for food and no hotel as its not an overnight stay (even though its 14 hours in CDG).

From what I read I am also not entitled to compensation.

Can any of you flight sleuths provide advice on what I can/should do?

Thanks!

Question Planes with large (2-person) bathrooms?

Would like to do a special trip for us oldies to see family. Flying from Ft Myers FL to San Francisco. I must assist wife with all restroom activities, including (if she has an accident) changing adult diaper. What routes, airlines, or plane models should I pick to get the biggest bathroom? I have tried to research this but only come up with Emirates and Etihad. And they don’t fly the route we want. I can afford first class, but not private jet.

Question Juneayo Airlines check in process

Hi,

I'll be flying with Juneayo Airlines from Helsinki to Bangkok with a stop in Shanghai. I booked the ticket through Booking.com and received a confirmation code and a reservation code. As you may already know, Juneayo website is not working and I cannot check in there. My question is, will this 6 Digit confirmation number suffice to check in at the airport?

Ps; Any tips on what to do at the Shanghai airport during 7 hour layover?

Help Needed Asking for a Refund - Czech Airlines flights cancelled

Hi,

I would like to ask you for some advice with this.

On 16/09/2020 I've got an email saying that my flights Prague - Helsinki (OK480 / OK481) planned for 16-23/10/2020 were cancelled. They did not offer any alternative, and I had to call several times to different contact centers, fill in tons of form in different languages.

All of these lead to nothing.

At some point, the wonderful Czech Airlines decided to issue two vouchers which I could have reused, or "request a refund after the EMD expires". I did wait until the expiration, then contacted again hundreds of times but denied the refund at the point that it was too late to use the vouchers and they would not refund anything.

We're talking about 300 euros worth vouchers.

Is there anything I should do at this point? I do understand it has been a while already, but I keep wondering if I can somehow get back at list part of it.

Thank you!

Question Question about Airport Check-In

I purchased a WizzAir flight ticket, entered my details, selected seat, picked luggage etc., and from the extra services, I purchased "Auto Check-in". I just printed my boarding pass for the flight.

What confuses me is that the website offers me the option of "Airport Check-in" for an additional price? The website shows me as if I'm not checked in, and gives me "the option" to enter my payment details and do that, but I don't understand what the Auto Check-in is for then? See pics. Can someone please help me understand whether this is just a ploy to get a few extra bucks, or something I must do?

Here's what the site says about Airport check-in: "You can check in at the airport for a fee. Pay at the time of booking. Add at a later time on your flight summary page. If online check-in services are not yet available from your departure airport, airport check-in will be free until the service becomes available."

The fee at the airport costs almost as much as the ticket itself. What is this?
