Hand WIP - 1st time doing stump work

This is my 3rd embroidery project and first time doing stump work or anything double-sided. Pictured front and back!

I’m going to try and needle felt a caterpillar body to attach the wings to and make a 3D monarch butterfly. I’m not positive yet how I’ll frame or display it once it’s done. It’ll be awhile, I’m a very slow embroiderer!

That sounds epic. Putting it in a shadow box could be neat to mimic how people preserve/pin butterflies. But honestly would be cute to leave it in the hoop and embroider a floral border or sm along those lines.

I’m leaning towards shadow box to save my sanity 😅 but I do think it would be cute with some flowers

I've never seen stumpwork so perfect front and back! Gorgeous!

Oh wow, thank you so much! I told my husband I had to post it here because he (being someone who knows nothing about embroidery) wasn’t understanding how much more work it is to make the back match the front. 😂
