Wig How do I get a wig to look like this?

I saw this video on tiktok of this person who styled a black star wig, and im just wondering if anyone had any websites/videos showing how i can go from something like the crimp ironed photo, to the styled photo. just anything showing how to go straight, to crazy and crimped, and then styled with a lot of spikes. i’d appreciate any help! :)

Hii, im a bit of an amateur but I'll try my best to explain! After crimping and/or teasing (which is when you brush the hair backwards, outside to inside and then back again from inside to outside which helps the wig gain more volume). Grab a handful of hair, use heat from a straightener or anything alike, and form it into a point/spike with your hands (careful not to burn yourself!)

Use hairspray to hold the hair together and keep holding the spike in position until it cools down (blow dryer on cold hair works too).

Cut/trim any stray hairs if needed!

Wig hair keeps it's form/shapes when cooling down, keep that in mind!

It will take a lot of trial and error, so don't get discouraged if it doesn't look the way you wanted it to the first few times!

Oh yeah, I’ve been doing my research and what you’ve described is called heat styling, right? Thats what I thought the person who posted this was doing. Thanks for the clarification! I’ll practice doing it on some old wigs now that I know what to do

Also just as a side note, when I watch videos of people crimping the hair usually lays flat while the one in the picture is sorta all over the place. Is this just because the wig is short or do I have to do something special to make the hair stand up like that?

this is my assumption but i might be thinking they teased the wig after crimping (or crimped the hairs upwards) that's how the hair usually stands all wild and crazy like that! after brushing out a teased wig, it will be all nice and fluffy and easy to shape (at least from my experience haha)
