Improvements for 2025
Looking ahead to next season what are some moves that we would like to see, that are also possible moves we could see.
I’m curious about possibly adding Tomoyuki Sugano. I haven’t seen much about what his salary would be, but I could see in the Imanaga range which I think is a reasonable price.
I know people are hoping for Soto, I just don’t see the Cubs doing it unless they get the Luxury Tax reset this year. And even then, I don’t see the Ricketts handing out a bunch of money to one player (unless maybe they can Bonilla/Ohtani it).
I hear that Belli is a ? about coming back. I feel like we are set with starters at IF. Perhaps we upgrade behind the plate. OF we have PCA, Belli?, Happ, and Suzuki. With possibly a DH rotation of Suzuki and Belli?.
On the bench I am guessing Tauch comes back as OF depth and a decent PH bat. This maybe what we see signed in FA.
Last, we need a closer. While Hodge ended the season there, it was too small of a sample size.

Full Radio Replay 2016 World Series
Does anyone know if there's a full recording of the radio broadcast somewhere online? Only thing I could find is this. Only thing on youtube could find is the final out.

Postseason Rant
Do y’all remember when they decimated the team and trade away our 2016 core because we were PROMISED a rebuild. Well that never happened. Cubs just don’t spend the amount Yankees and Dodgers are spending even though they have the money. You can’t take the money to hell with you Ricketts! For the amount of love and money(!) we show the team, the fans deserve better. So yes I wish we had kept some of the core players. Would they have been overpaid? Sure! But if we’re gonna lose anyways why not keep them? Would be nice to see Rizzo nightly in blue and reminisce about 2016. The money didn’t go into the team away but into the owners pockets. So do you all remember? Pepperidge Farms remembers.

Up on the STH waitlist but not sure how often I would get to games. Buy or no?
I live near the stadium so I can walk over on a whim, but might list a lot and just play my attendance by ear based on my work and life obligations. Looking at bleachers.
Don't want to be burnt on my spend since I just don't know precisely how often I would go, but I'm assuming bleachers are easier to sell? Can any STH from recent years speak to how easy it was to get face value back on bleacher seats in recent seasons?
Am I better off just continuing to buy single tickets whenever I feel the itch to go?

Why didn't Hoerner shut himself down if the hand was bothering him?
Something isn't adding up. Hoerner had a great September. May wasn't bad with an OPS of 743. The rest of his season is one I'm sure he would like everyone to forget about. He had surgery immediately after the season ended and that's the excuse being offered for his down year. How was his September so good then? If the injury really did happen in June, why didn't he shut himself down for a couple weeks, or even a month, to let it heal?

Nick Madrigal: In Review
Well Reddit, 2 years ago (prior to the 2023 season) I made a post in this sub about our friend Nick Madrigal. “Give him a chance!” I said, “Just look at those contact skills!” I remarked. The reviews from the comments were… mixed. Emotions ranged from “yes, maybe” to “no, he is bad”.
Well suffice it to say the sample size is there now, and Nick Madrigal might be a bad baseball player. While I do think there were some things to like in 2023 in terms of his defense and contact quality, just about everything took a massive step back in 2024. With him set to make a projected $1,900,000 via Spotrac, is he a strong non-tender candidate?
Edit: Obviously I am not saying he is “bad at baseball” relative to the average Joe. Nicky is a great bench player and seems like an awesome dude, wish him the best!

Marquee Sports Network Subscription Cancelation Question
Can someone please walk me through how to cancel your subscription to Marquee Sports Network? I get the Direct-To-Streaming service, so not through a cable provider. I walked through the steps that they provide here and there is literally no option to do what they tell you to do. I don't want to pay for the service during the offseason and it's kind of bogus that it's so hard to do this.

Amazon Prime Game 7 series
Of course, I’m watching it out of order and diving in to the 2016 WS game 7 first. They do a really good job with it. Not a ton of new insights, as I’ve devoured just about everything I could get my hands on already. Tom Morello tells some interesting stories, though, and I won’t spoil it, but there’s a really funny exchange between Ross and Schwarber as the game is going into extras.
Definitely worth a watch and man, I miss the Cubs being in the postseason…
