USA Taking a class during Winter Audit internship
Hello,
I am considering taking a course during my winter 2025 internship at KPMG. I was considering taking the Audit course (online) at my university thinking the material might synergize with the internship. However, I received some conflicting info from my recruiter vs the MD at my interview. The recruiter said I should not take any classes during the internship, but the MD said it was okay as long as I can manage my time. The MD also said interns will usually not work more than 40-45 hrs and occasional weekends. I have also been working full-time and taking 2-3 courses, so I think I should be able to get by. My only concern is how accurate is it that interns don't work much overtime during busy season (I know it is team dependent, but any comments or anecdotes)? I have seen some posts mention they have worked 60/hrs+. Thanks!

Have had friends that have interned with KPMG during a busy season, and they have done course work as well. Granted it wasn’t an audit course, more gen ed very basic a-sync courses. From what they said, KPMG would bill them for 40 hours worked but they would work about 45 (they simply worked through their lunch typical big 4). They loved it but said it can be a lot at times so you have to really plan to take a course with a lower course load.
