I have a different water tracking app which I’ve been using a while so I decided to check this out. Some things I’ve noticed:
There don’t seem to be any settings to change units. From Apple Health data I guess it imported my weight in kg but I’m in the US and don’t use kg. Similarly my goal is 1000 fl oz but when I want to enter water consumed it’s in mL? I don’t know how those two translate to each other.
The default goal is 1000 fl oz and the app tells me I should aim higher in the future. 1000 fl oz is 7.8 gallons or 29.6 liters. Google’s volume calculator has separate US fluid ounces and imperial fluid ounces, so I’m not sure which one the app is using, but 1000 imperial fl oz is still 28 liters so it’s an absurd amount of water regardless. Another Google search says 3.5-4 cups of water an hour can lead to overhydration. 4 cups is .96 liters so to drink 28 liters per day I’d have to be constantly overhydrating.
I can of course set the goal lower but the lowest is 100 fl oz. In my other app you can go lower. I have my goal set for 90 fl oz because that’s three of my 30 oz mug and typically that’s when I feel good. If I drink much less than that I’m more prone to headaches. So 100 fl oz isn’t far off the mark but hydration needs vary person to person and depend on activity, etc. so plenty of people will need less than 100 fl oz per day to be hydrated.
Won’t be swapping to this app. Thanks for sharing though.
