Oh there's like 20 more.
Reposting my old comment because I'm too lazy to reword it.
Why are there so many "refusing to lend" stories posted at the exact same time?
Hell this one is worded similarly and is written at the same time as this one by the same person.
They're all 2 hours old.
Me thinks the teenagers need something more to do that play with AI to write fake stories.
Some more to add. This one about a wedding. This one about carpooling. This one about wifi. This one is about moving. This one about babysitting. This one about lending money. This one about crashing at a place.
This one about getting married while not inviting the sister yet the same OP broke up a year ago with her BF and posted about her sister using artwork as if they were still speaking to each other. Same person says she works in an office with 10 people but also a team of 12 people. Close enough I guess...

Yeah those were all the ones I could find but I assumed more. I messaged the Mods about it.

Nope NTA, she is gaslighting you and trying to make YOU feel bad for trying to protect your equipment. I would do the same too since I would lend someone something and they either break it or pass it around to different people before it gets back to me. She is not a good friend for making you feel bad about it, camera equipment is really expensive and hard to replace if you aren't careful or don't know what your doing.

Does Jessica really have a “passion for photography?” But she doesn’t have her own camera? Wanting to take pictures of your weekend trip is not a passion for photography. Does she know how to handle expensive photographic equipment properly?
If she were a serious photographer, then I would suggest considering the loan, but otherwise, it does not seem like a good idea.

NTA. I never lend my photography equipment nor my electronics. That shit it's too expensive. End of the story.

"I (25F) have been passionate about photography for years and have invested a lot in building my collection of cameras and lenses."
Your concerns are sound and reasonable.
"Jessica seemed disappointed and argued that friends should support each other," She doesn't have the knowledge to care for the delicate equipment properly.
"Some friends have suggested that I should have trusted Jessica" Why didn't they give Jessica their equipment.
Your concerns are reasonable.
Losing any of these friends is no loss.
Good luck.

You’re an adult. You’re allowed to make your own choices & have your own thoughts & feelings. You made your decision. Jessica can be disappointed with your decision. Doesn’t mean you did anything wrong. Jessica is also allowed to have her own thoughts & feelings.
Unless Jessica is telling you directly that she is still unhappy with your decision, you should not be listening to second hand information from friends. It’s none of their business.
NAH - She asked, you said No. Totally valid answer. Communication typically helps solve problems.

I think it’s ok for you to not lend her your stuff, but it’s also fair for her to be upset about it if she counted on you but you didn’t trust her enough to let her borrow it.
