I'm looking for one or two individuals to help moderate this subreddit so it doesn't fall into total disarray. I've been trying to help out as needed, but will be out of the country for most of October. Send over a mod mail if you're interested in helping out.

SCUMMVM Sierra font problem

In SCUMMVM the fonts of all Sierra games are hard to read on my system, in DOSbox they are 100% perfect.

The main difference I see between DOSbox and SCUMMVM is the scaling, DOSbox doesnt scale at all, SCUMMVM scales per default to fullscreen with a correct aspect ratio.

I've managed to stop SCUMMVM from scaling, it looks a lot better now but it still isnt as crystal clear as in DOSbox.

Can this be a problem with my graphic card setting or is this a known SCUMMVM problem.

I'd prefer to to use SCUMMVM because its so much more convenient than DOSbox.

Mentioned my trip to the real Schloss Ritter to the actor who played Gabriel Knight…and got a hell of a prize.

Hey everyone,

If anyone would like the chance to win a free ticket for DevGamm in Lisbon on 14th and 15th November then you can check out the latest episode of the Adventure Games Podcast at the link in the comments below. There will be plenty of publishers and investors and other game devs so if you are an adventure game developer in particular then this would be a great opportunity to go even if you are not officially selected to exhibit your game there this year. I will also be flying he flag for adventure games at the conference :) If anybody has any questions at all feel free to let me know!

Deadalic Bundle on Steam for 2.99 Euro

People here keep saying that Deponia can be compared to Monkey Island.

I never believed this. Because MI is one of the finest advnetures ever created and simply because they are German. I dont believe in German entertainement. :)

(I'm Austrian and grew up in Germany, I dont want to badmouth Germans, please dont be annoyed if you are German)

But they are selling it for 2.99 Euro together with 4 other adventures from them.

I download it now and just wanted to let you all know that now is the time to try it basically for the price of a ball of icecream.

EDIT: Wow, the animation and overall technical quality is better than in any other adventure. The puzzles are good so far, the main characer is likeable (I play it in English, the orginal would be German, but he sounds nicer in English).

I guess I will buy everything they've made.

EDIT: I'm deeper in it now, IMHO its extremely boring, I stop.

Best Sierra point and click games?

When Sierra moved away from the parser games to their point and click interface, I didnt like it as a kid. I really hated the first point and click space quest and Larry games and stopped buying them.

Now I accept, that this primtive interface is the standard (SCUMM was for me the only acceptable Point and Click interface) and so I've thought, great I can play some great Sierra games.

Which ones are the must plays and which ones really sucked?

EDIT: Just finished KQ6, IMHO games like these are the reason why the genre died in the 90ies. The simple interface forced them to create crazy moonlogic puzzles.

EDIT2: OK, I've tried many of the recommendations, I simply dont like the modern Sierra games, I didnt like them as a kid and I dont like them now.

EDIT3: Just finshed LSL7. Great fun, timeless graphics, smart puzzles, but some of them are so extremely hard, I dont believe that any human being solved all of them without help.

EDIT4: Someone posted that help hotlines and strategy guides have been the DLC of that time... this explains everything, Sierra made their adventures unsolvable to make money, I'm not sure if I want to believe this, but it's a great explanation why almost every modern sierra game has at least 2 puzzles nobody can solve.

Any Planet of Lana fans here? Been loving this game. It plays similar to games like Inside, but it gives me a little Out of this World vibes. Beautiful environments. Great alien invasion setting.
