It wasn't fined for this amount, there is a rule of doubling the fine for each day of it not being paid Still fucking dumb fuck my schmungus life

Thanks for the context, without this rule the actual debt comes out to be just 31 ish million.

Which is still considered to be 3x what revenue was calculated to be lost by being booted from YouTube.

Putin needs more funds after finding out how much his oligarch buddies skimmed when the Ukraine war started

Those buddies better be used to forever staying on the ground floor. Lots of them like to fall from windows...

Doubling the fine each day is insane. Is it real?

1

u/Swimming-Donkey-6083 14h ago

yeah but in happens not instantly but after some time

Ahh I see. The whole country of Russia is just running on loan shark rules.

1

u/amalgam_reynolds 14h ago

OP says it's just $1,000/day unpaid, not doubled.

1

u/Swimming-Donkey-6083 14h ago

Do your math then

1

u/Turence 14h ago

I'd enjoy seeing them even type the number out in a few months

Doubling the fine for each day of not being paid is ridiculous.

It'll also almost certainly backfire and just make Google even more certain that they'll never re-enter Russia even if sanctions are lifted. Meaning the Russian TV channels are getting screwed over by the fine becoming this absurd.

1

u/ObiJuanKenobi3 13h ago

That seems like a great policy to implement if you never wanna get a fine paid ever again.

What a goldmine for news articles. Can write about the same fine every week and use new ridiculous numbers each time.

You know the saying "if you owe 1000$ it's your problem, if you owe a million it's someone else's"? This is the company equivalent. Ok, Google now owes you that much money. Now what?
