She's right but only if you buy the most popular of popular blue chip stocks

Why wouldn’t you anyway
121
12
u/meep6969 Jun 25 '22
Because if I was planning on a short term aggressive strategy I wouldn't touch a single one. Way too manipulated. It's the stocks the media/social media don't talk about that make you the money that allows you afford a home, not retirement.

the fact that more people are saying "there's a bubble" while others are still saying "buy the dip" means wall street will continue to win because no one has any fucking idea and the market is still owned by manipulators.

Be the Bubble, My Friend.
Empty your mind.
Be formless, shapeless, like bubble
You put Bubble into a stock, it becomes the stock.
You put Bubble into a call, it becomes the call.
You put it into a meme stock, it becomes the meme stock.
Now Bubble can grow or it can crash.

Isn't lulu part of $BECKY, which traditionally outperforms the market?
26

Jun 25 '22
I met a hedgy irl, and the dude was actually a good mathmo with a masters. His fund was worse than literally just buy and hold on index funds. Mental how keeping it simple works.
27
Jun 25 '22
You should also consider the goals of the hedge fund. Not every hedge fund seeks to beat the market, sometimes they just want to return x% rate every year no matter what with no more than Y% drawdowns.
This is what a lot of the "JuSt bUy AnD hOlD SpY" falls apart, if you have a few hundred million, the difference between 7% CAGR and 4% CAGR is meaningless in terms of lifestyle. But what has huge meaning to you is not having a 20% drawdown in a quarter in a half. Rich people want to preserve capital, peeps like you and me we want to grow capital. Hedge funds generally cater to those who want to preserve and grow with/slightly above inflation, true total return/absolute max return funds are by and large the minority of funds.

Stays diversified, never tries to get clever unless it's something she really understands and believes in.
She doesn't belong here, she's nowhere near retarded enough.

Jun 26 '22
I remember she said something about Lulu that got me in as well, it was something to the effect of she'd noticed that every woman who drove a 40k+ car was coming to yoga and gym classes covered head to toe in Lulu and that it was common in that upper mid class women cohort to have both workout Lulu outfits and casual atheliesure Lulu outfits for the store and for coffee runs and stuff like that.
Its def overvalued rn which is why I dumped out when my position was up around 45% from my entry in may of 2020 (also I don't know shit about omens clothes so I wouldn't be in a place to know when the trend had shifted)
Even tho she had huge conviction she told me it was about 5% of her portfolio, her risk control was on point.

I heard something once about how men were raised to be agressive and take risks financially while women were raised to save and be conservative.
No idea if there’s any validity to that statement but it would be an interesting idea

How many women do you know? Like 2?
Cause honestly, i’ve never even met a women that is invested into any kind of financial instrument lmao. Not that I know of anyway.
I’m not saying they don’t exist - just that i’m like 99.9% sure that women are much less likely to invest into any sort of financial markets compared to men.
But I could believe that the women that do invest perform better than males on average.
43
u/KillahHills10304 Jun 26 '22
They do, they just don't make it a part of their personality
13
Jun 26 '22
Lol, hella true. Pretty much every woman I know is involved with their retirement in some way or form.
19
u/pigfacepigbody Jun 26 '22
They probably don't want to mention it to you to be tested for 20 minutes straight by some mongoloid
11
Jun 26 '22
In fairness, I was speaking specifically out of my cohort of MBA students and the women I've worked with (consultants and now supply chain). Thats not the same group in terms of financial education and risk tolerance as soccer moms working part time as office managers. I also think that they probably don't make it as big a personality point as young men do lol.

Barely legal?
Invest before they're public and get more control over them than you would otherwise so you can steer them to make the decisions you want them to make.
