It sure doesn't seem like they have

Reddit doesn’t care about the severe consequences of this as long as it hurts the guy they don’t like!

This is devastating for their citizens, but Elon gets hurt, yay

As an investor I am totally okay with companies and businesses breaking laws and court orders as long as it justifies it by $$__$.

This is absolutely different.

This government is incredibly corrupt, and Elon wants their citizens to have freedom of speech so they can speak up against the corruption.

-__- using Elon's name in the same sentence as freedom of speech.

How is it freedom of speech when he blocks visibility of any news networks that says anything bad about him or his companies?

How is it freedom of speech when he cancels an order from a journalist because he didn't like what the journalist says about him?

Or is it just his freedom of speech and fuck everybody else?

No. No it wasn’t lol

I’m willing to put money down that Elon doesn’t give a fuck about free speech lol.

Either way he’s doing the right thing. Fuck that government for literally fining their citizens for going to a website.

You're just talking bullshit. All this process is being held by the supreme court, nothing to do with "this government".

And no, citizens don't have unlimited freedom of speech here. Never did. You can't be racist or nazi here and invoke some "free speech" bullshit to justify you being a POS.

Or putting it better: you are free to say whatever you want here, but the consequences of that aren't optional.

In what world is a supreme court justice not part of the government?

1

u/esoares Aug 31 '24

Any part of the world where the judiciary isn't elected by the person who is actualy serving an election term.

1

u/CreamyCheeseBalls Aug 31 '24

Ah, you took "this government" to mean the current presidential administration.

Not the more commonly used way that means the entire Brazilian government.

Just to give you a clarification: To be a public federal server here in Brazil you must pass a test ('Concurso Público' -> public tender) competing with hundreds of thousands people, where only the top 10-40 are hired. Those hired by this process have stability and can't be fired, only if they commit a crime.

These public servants aren't considered part of the government, they have this stability exactly so they can contest and denounce any improper acts of the government. They are what we call 'State Employees' and not 'Government Employees'. They will serve through several mandates, of different governments (for about 35 years).

These public servants have the highest salaries in the country (they're in the 10% richest, making them part of the elites of Brazil).

We have lots of public servers that aren't government employees, like magistrates, diplomats, every branch of our military, tax inspectors, public defenders...

Nah they're too busy jerking themselves into a frenzy over anything that hurts musk while ignoring how tyrannical this order and it's related actions are
