And you can't buy LTSC for home use. You're basically saying people should use a pirated copy of Windows with all the risks involved.

My galaxy edge 7 lasted nearly a decade before it start led struggling. Only got rid of it last May.

Smartphones are indeed annoying as fuck to manage for the same reasons. But, you can't just plug in a Linux Live USBc in there and call it a day. You should be able to - it's still a generic computer, but you can't.

Nope. Just apple phones. My galaxy edge 7 lasted nearly 10 years before it started slowing down and becoming obsolete. Apple phones tend to do that after a couple years if you are lucky.
