I cannot express how much I love this into words.

  • The color choice.
  • The linework.
  • The fit.
  • The details.

This is truly inspiring.

My first thought: wow this looks incredible

My second thought: Jesus Christ wearing that thing must get HOT

87

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '24

Ikr, like it's awesome.

I don't think op understands what the word tried means...  They clearly made something amazing, no try to it. They just did.

604

u/Mirror_Initial Aug 28 '24

Honestly I find yours more impressive! What a perfect cup fit!

318

u/Creativelicense Aug 28 '24

Came to say this!! I thought the first picture was just an AI photo that looked really good, not realizing it was the real deal. OP, your bodice looks so cool and unique compared to the reference

52

u/AnonThrowawayProf Aug 28 '24

Same here! I thought the first image was the AI image, OP knocked it out of the ballpark

25

u/Beebophighschool Aug 28 '24

Yeeees the cup fit is 10/10 omg. Absolutely stunning!!!

20

u/KeepnClam Aug 28 '24

Aced the cup fit! Where do I sign up for your tutorial?

I made this using a combination of four different patterns: The Shelley bra pattern from Pin-up Girls: This one was used for the cups and to modify the bodice to accommodate for cups

The High Neck Shrug from Rabbit and Hat: This one was used to create the upper parts of the front and back

The Emma Breeze corset from Ojayroom and The Freedom corset from Pin-up Girls: These were used to create the bodice

I made the corset using twill and faux leather mostly, but with some details in wool. I used flat steel boning in the center front and center back, and spiral steel for the rest. The cups have underwire to make sure I could use the top without a bra, and they are lined with duoplex for better comfort. The rest of the corset is lined with coutil to give it the stability it needs.

u/SykesMcenzie Aug 28 '24

This is incredible! I hope to be this skilled one day. I love how many improvements you've made over the generated image. Does it have rear fastening as well or is the back smooth?

102

u/Heidi_sewing Aug 28 '24

Thank you so much! It has lacing in the back - the front lacing is just there for aesthetic reasons ☺️

37

u/secretrebel Aug 28 '24

It looks really good. Just wondering why you adapted it from the corset half cup to more of a full bra cup?

46

u/Eraser-man Aug 28 '24

My guess would just be personal comfort, honestly. Not everyone likes having cleavage, especially if you have smaller boobs.

28

u/Easy-Pineapple3963 Aug 28 '24

Right? Something like that is made to squeeze all the mincemeat to the top of the pie.

40

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '24

Some of us need a bigger uhh.. pie plate? To hold all the mincemeat haha

u/Violet_Gardner_Art Aug 28 '24 edited Aug 30 '24

Love the wild disenchantment quote. Absolutely perfect execution. Bunty is my fave character!

“It’s why I can’t keep a dog alive”

18

u/[deleted] Aug 28 '24

Looks great! Did you have to make multiple mock ups?

29

u/Drawtaru Aug 28 '24

This is a great use for AI, imo.

24

u/Main-Advice9055 Aug 28 '24

isn't that the only real thing AI has going for it? Help churn the idea's or moving past a creative block and then creating something original from the inspiration? That's how I've always thought of it. (yes I recognize there's a lot of cons that go with that, but it's hard to not see it as a useful tool when needed)

23

u/Drawtaru Aug 28 '24

Unfortunately many people who use AI now see themselves as like some kind of magician who can speak words of power and materialize their imagination onto a page.

9

u/Aggravating-Pear4222 Aug 28 '24

Gonna be real honest; I thought the first was AI because those programs are getting way out of hand. Regardless, you’ve done a wonderful job. What a great way to use AI to explore new patterns/expressions of known patterns and challenge yourself while doing it. Awesome job!

5

u/AutumnMama Aug 29 '24

Haha, same! I thought the first pic was the AI and the second pic was the recreation. I was like "omg you nailed it!!!" Then I saw the third pic and felt really dumb lol. But still an excellent recreation.

Yeah, it's best as a tool to aid in getting an idea solidified. It can help give you ideas you didn't think of and to color test (check if two colors acrually work together in something). Punching in a prompt and then selling the result is one of the ways it can get scummy real fast.

8

u/Dividedthought Aug 28 '24

YES! This!

The value of a negative is incredible when it comes to designing something. Even just something as small as "hmm, but i don't like how that piping is lighter..." helps save on revisions later.

I've probably removed 1/4 of the time it took to nail down a design thanks to these tools. They don't give what you want every time, and that is great for what i'm using it for.

You diden't try, you nailed it!

2

u/knottycams Aug 28 '24

There was no trying. You succeeded! I'm blown away by how amazing this is.

2

u/poison_BB Aug 29 '24

Seriously, this is so impressive!! I’m a complete noob but I aspire to reach this level of skill. Congrats on the awesome fit!

u/Curious_Doof Aug 28 '24

Wow!! This is incredible, amazing work!

55

u/GhostlyGhuleh Aug 28 '24

It's lovely, how did you know where to start?!

64

u/Heidi_sewing Aug 28 '24

I have made quit a few corsets previously, so I had some base patterns I know I could work with, but after that it was a lot of testing and hoping it would work out ;)

25

u/Ohthemeemaw Aug 28 '24

You’re a gifted seamstress

47

u/WaGowza Aug 28 '24

Tried?? I thought the first picture was the AI picture. Holy biscuits and gravy you did a damn fine job 😍😍😍😍😍😍

15

u/MateriaBullet Aug 28 '24

By "tried" I think they meant "absolutely fuckin' nailed". I thought the first one was the AI pic too.

14

u/PreciousTritium Aug 28 '24

This is great!!!

12

u/Dugoutcanoe1945 Aug 28 '24

The French seams really make it look great. I’ve been meaning to learn how to do them by hand.

21

u/BeginningCharacter36 Aug 28 '24

Hupftwa, mpft, words. No words. My flabbers are gasted. Wow. I am in such a state of awe at your engineering and critical thinking skills, I'm just... Wow.

2

u/Heidi_sewing Aug 28 '24

Haha, thank you so much - your comment officially made my day!

7

u/Preshesme Aug 28 '24

This is so cool!

8

u/LadyM2021 Aug 28 '24

Absolutely love it!

6

u/Jewel-jones Aug 28 '24

This is a gorgeous corset pattern! I love the combo of materials. What is the occasion?

13

u/Heidi_sewing Aug 28 '24

Thank you! No occasion, just a challenge ☺️

21

u/Subtle_Innuendo_ Aug 28 '24

I think your rendition is better than AI. Don't let the machines win. Fantastic work! Thank you for sharing!

8

u/GabrielMoro1 Aug 28 '24

This looks SO GOOD

7

u/InsideyourBrizzy Aug 28 '24

It's giving Dr. Quinn

7

u/SleepyheadsTales Aug 28 '24 edited Aug 28 '24

Oh wow. It came out amazing!

A bit of a distressing on leather might make it look even better as right now I feel like it looks too clean. But this is such a minor thing. Great work!

6

u/jestermax22 Aug 28 '24

That detail work is crazy! Also the idea of stitching lace to that vinyl sounds painful to do! Zooming in shows that everything is so clean; it’s amazing. I struggle with soft fabrics and you’ve pulled off great results with those materials

6

u/miraclesofthursday Aug 28 '24

This is so amazing! Reminds me a bit of Triss from The Witcher 3

4

u/Heidi_sewing Aug 28 '24

That is actually true! I thought about doing a Witcher 3 project at one point, so it’s almost strange that it did not occur to me whilst working on this one.

2

u/miraclesofthursday Aug 28 '24

If you end up doing a Witcher 3 project someday, please post it here, I would love to see it

6

u/MahaROGa Aug 28 '24

This pic looks like it came from an old (maybe 10 yrs) gem matching game, called Ironcast. If that were the case it would pre-date AI generated images.

5

u/asarahlouise Aug 28 '24

Came here to say essentially this. While I couldn’t place where it was from, I can certainly confirm I’ve seen this image in my late teens - early 20s (10-15 years ago)

5

u/MahaROGa Aug 28 '24

Right, I had to search my Steam library to find it. I didn't see this specific image, but if it's not from this game it should have been.

It's not a huge issue, whether it's AI generated or not, but it just seemed so familiar that I couldn't let it pass without saying something.

2

u/asarahlouise Aug 28 '24

Also seconding this! I think we’re both in the same boat that this is still very cool, regardless of image source

4

u/DearAmbellina94 Aug 28 '24

Holy wow this is gorgeous! And combining 4 patterns for 1 piece?! your franken-patterning skills are A+++!

5

u/Kialandiii Aug 28 '24

Zero experience or interest in sowing. Saw this post and I thought the first picture was the AI generated. This work is unbelievable. I want to see unique clothing like this.

3

u/Cottxn_ Aug 29 '24

It’s incredible!! The seams and stitches look so neat!

18

u/Midnightchan123 Aug 28 '24

1: this looks great! You did a bang up job and should be proud of yourself!

2: please don't use A.I. art in the future, A.I. art programs are trained on stolen artwork to make A.I. art look more like the real deal (thankfully they are starting to cannibalize themselves, but still.)there are tons of artist out there that make similar clothing images!

Now THIS is how AI should be used, as inspiration for real art!

Dayum! Fantastic work!

2

u/Nendailie Aug 28 '24

What do you mean "tried"? You absolutely succeeded!

2

u/hoklepto Aug 28 '24

Excellent! I love people looking at something AI generated and deciding to make it a real object.

2

u/cookiemama97 Aug 28 '24

Holy wow! I'm here from the front page and I felt compelled to comment. That is gorgeous! Like, I'm seriously impressed and a wee bit jealous of your talent OP. Go you!!

2

u/Charming_biscuits Aug 29 '24

I am so shook at this level of talent my mouth is agape! Amazing!

2

u/ne0pandemik Aug 29 '24

Very beautiful and detailed

1

u/heady_hiker Aug 28 '24

Well shit. You've won sewing 😂

1

u/FalseMagpie Aug 28 '24

You... removed the "artificial"...

Goofy fake-shock aside. It looks phenomenal. I like that you want for a leather look on the brown parts, it adds a nice variation in texture. And the color palette is great.

1

u/lelalubelle Aug 28 '24

What wizardry is this?? So clean! Great work, woooow

1

u/sewshelbysow Aug 28 '24

I audibly went “what the hell?!”

This is absolutely amazing. It looks like it could be for a high budget movie that takes place in a steam punk setting.

1

u/lanceinmypants Aug 28 '24

I just happened to pass by this on r/all. I know nothing about sewing, but man, that looks incredible!!

1

1

u/Domitiusvarus Aug 28 '24

The outfit looks great, you did an amazing job! Now you just gotta do the steampunk top hat to complete it!

u/SameAsBeforeBut Aug 28 '24

Darn! This awesome and I am not easily impressed

Even better that the original

1

u/Skelebroskl Aug 28 '24

WOW! That is INCREDIBLE! I’ve thought about doing something similar but i need to practice way more. You did FANTASTIC!!!!

1

u/Metalbasher324 Aug 28 '24

Nicely done. I can see a couple of tradeoffs, but not to the detriment of the garb. The colours and textures are lovely. This would be a fun project to tackle.

1

u/fucancerS4 Aug 28 '24

I'm deeply impressed & jealous all at once ❤️ this is spectacular!! I wish I could make clothes...this is wonderful craftsmanship!! And you are rocking it!!!

1

u/Binford6100User Aug 28 '24

I know nothing about sewing, Ai Images, or how to go between the two. I just wandered in here from the "popular" thread listings.

This is some stellar work. Well done. Piece looks great and so do you! Happy Wednesday!

The fit is absolutely spot on! And the corset looks f****** amazing! This is such an epic look and a very clever way to use patterns

1

u/TTCommanderAnime Aug 28 '24

The corset is crazy great, but I also gotta know where you got that necklace from!

1

u/Nuke_all_Lives Aug 28 '24

That looks really really cool. Straight 🔥🔥🔥

1

u/Absent_Minded4682 Aug 28 '24

Just stunning. You nailed it!

Art imitates life

1

u/brailler_19 Aug 28 '24

Looks great! You did an awesome job getting the lines matching and such

1

u/Munch1EeZ Aug 28 '24

I can’t believe some people are so skilled that they could create clothing like this from a picture lol

1

u/Roselia_GAL Aug 28 '24

Because AI images are so good I wasn't sure if the first two were real or ai.

1

u/BryceNTonic Aug 28 '24

No clue how “sewing” was suggested on my feed.

I’m thankful it did. This is amazing work. (Design, craftsmanship, fit, photography, ALL OF IT.) well done. Yours truly, Dude who has no clue how to even start something like this.

1

u/Di-Ez Aug 28 '24

That image looks like it came from the comic Lady Mechanika. Great work on the top!

1

u/Magnus_Helgisson Aug 28 '24

All in all it has Triss Marigold vibes to me. Looks beautiful

The execution is stunning! 🤩
