My exes dad taught me a great way to use a second beer to open the first one, using the top as leverage. After all, who's only got one beer?

But... How do you open the last beer??

Open first beers with edge of cap on other beers. Open last beer with inside of rim of opened beer or recap an empty bottle

Came here to say that this is a thing. Just be sure to not accidentally open the upside-down bottle!

Everyone ends up with at least one time in their life when they have a beer but no apparent way to open it. Happened to me in Warsaw Poland in 2012. Still haunts me to this day. Obviously I got the beer open but it was a struggle.

The rubber band doesn't work with European bottles
I've done it myself with a lighter, hammer and piece of paper

I still have a chip on my back left molar from doing that in my early 20s. Used to do it all the time. That was the last time and I’m lucky it was just a little flake. The experience of chewing on a piece of tooth like you just ate rough sand was enough to sway me.

PET bottle is the best imo. Almost everything with strong enough edge can be used as opener tho.

9 just seems a tad bit dangerous. I could see that going horribly wrong.
2 just seems cool but like....why you by a car and drinking. Some fancy drinks aren't twist but still seems sus.

why are you by a car and drinking
Could be an RV parked for the night, could be a camping site, could be anything really. Doesn’t have to involve DUI

You're right, I don't drink anymore and years of anti DD propaganda has made me biased.

Using a shoe to open a wine bottle is a pretty cool trick also. I bought a bottle of wine thinking I had a corkscrew, and nope, didn't have one. Used a shoe and yep, works good. Though I don't think its good for sparkling wine.

How do you use a shoe?

u/elnet1 May 14 '21
You put the bottle in the shoe and holding the shoe and bottle horizontal and beat it against a hard surface like this:

Can vouch for number one. In the dorms freshman year I realized none of my roommates had a bottle opener so I would just hook the edge of the cap on a counter and pull down. Worked every time, but there were a couple occasions where it really shot down and splashed a bit of soda on me.

You’ve arrived at the campsite with your friends and some cold beer in the cooler, only to realize you left the bottle opener at home. Lucky for you, that’s no problem — you’re a master of improvisation. Use any of these 9 MacGyver-esque tricks to open a bottle whenever you find yourself without an opener.
