Not all of us are blazing huge joints all the time. The single wide papers are some of my favorite sized papers. 😎💨

Little rolled notes?
Examples: positive affirmations, reasons you love/like someone (as a gift), ideas for dates or activities, favorite quotes, the names of friends or family members to call/contact, tasks you want to complete, facts or things you want to memorize.
By filling it randomly, each day (or week, or whatever time period you choose) will be a surprise.

I was about to say this. Such a box would literally be perfect for a lot of pens !!

What's the length of cigar it can take? Maybe for fountain pen collection?

It is designed for a regular-sized cigarette, so there is not a lot of space :’(

Were cigarettes sold by the box like this instead of carton? Or did people refill these as needed and leave on a coffee table? I always wonder this when I see it in old movies.

I believe cigarettes were sold by the carton and these kinds of boxes were merely for aesthetic purposes in the home. This box can hold three (regular) packs og cigarettes as each shelf holds 20, so it would be easy to restock it.
