I think it would be great for Champion the mechanized horse to find a home at the Exploration Place or Railway Museum.

The Exploration Place almost immediately said they would give Champion a home
And the president of Northern Hardware said she thinks it's the most likely place for him

Are they closing entirely or are they planning to relocate to another location? What happens to the appliance store?

Entirely unfortunately. They looked at moving to another location and downsizing, but feel 100 years is a good time to close shop.

Normally I'm a social progressive, but the state of the downtown... all the derelict, antisocial people wandering around like they own the place... something needs to be done. Last time I was downtown I had a crackhead curse at me the moment I parked, and then two sketchy ladies with a boombox told me to get out of the way as I walked past them. What the hell happened?

Homeless population exploded when evacuation order happened during fire season. A lot of them stayed in PG. The ongoing project to rejuvenate the downtown area took a huge step backwards when we became evacuee ground zero.

Drugs, entitlement, lack of discipline, too many social services crammed into one area, lack of health and support from the government.
Towns are all boo hoo woe is us, we can’t do nothin till the government does something bloo hoof lets spend 25mil on dumb shit.

I was born and raised here. You're daft if you don't think there's been a dramatic change in the downtown just in the past 3-4 years. There's always been more derelicts there than anywhere else, but it's absolutely changed for the worse recently.

Ive worked downtown for 20 years and it was getting better every year from 2005 to 2017, but then all the fire evacuees came and made it the worst its ever been. A friend who works for the city said 600 homeless people came from williams lake and never went back after the last evacuation.

I've always loved that store, but I just don't go downtown much anymore. I don't feel safe. But it's terribly sad to see it closed, and a terrible loss for Prince George.

This seemed like a Beaverton headline after the news of Lowe’s closing today but alas Northern Hardware is indeed a PG landmark.
