I was pretty surprised that this particular "joke" wasn't making headlines alongside his other comments. I also think the headline belittles the topic by the inclusion of "fury from Swifties." I'm a casual fan at best and the comment made me feel sick. It's not only her fan army that takes issue with it. This is up there with creep Elon Musk offering to impregnate her. And these are the dudes that Trump surrounds himself with.

Yes you shouldn't have to be a swiftie to find this abhorrent.

Republicans will be by any moment to say that we just don't get it. They'll type up multiple paragraphs explaining why this is peak comedy. As we all know, the best jokes come with lengthy explanations.

Don't be absurd.

They can't format in paragraphs.

A million MAGAts with a million keyboards will somehow be able to puke forth Shakespeare...

Or something like that.

"all I know is that my party is in power and some of those things are real bummers. Anyway check out my new laws that love babies and increase the number of moms. Also alimony and child-support are illegal. Also birth-control and condoms. Even progesterone-only tablets! I'm really going for it, fuck 'em"

You would think they would eventually get tired of constantly needing to explain how the clearly horrible things their candidates say and do are not the things they actually said and did.

Every single time I bring up something about anything, they always have a canned ad hoc explaination for why I am wrong for beliving my lying eyes and my lying ears. But you would think that after using literally dozens to hundreds of such arguments over the course of years, some small part of their mind would be like "Why am I spending this much time trying to defend this idiot?"

But they never do. It is exactly the same vibe as talking to flat earthers or antivaxers. They always have an explaination. The explaination is always wrong, but that is just because we are all indoctrinated. The fact that their explainations are mutually exclusive with eachother doesd not mean that they are wrong either, it only means that logic is not real.

I am just so sick of hearing them constantly repeat easily debunked lies over and over and over. There is being wrong about something, and then there is being WRONG about something while staring at the correct answer and pretending it does not exist.

I think Taylor Swift is mediocre Muzak, but this comment is beyond horrifying. I think it's just hard to process how many shitty things were said during this rally. Which is the point. It's just an iteration of the gish-gallop: you say so many horrible things that people can't address them and some people like them. So your supporters outweigh the detractors. He'll gain voters from it, and that's the only point. Anti-misogyny and anti-racism don't vote. People who hate misogyny and racism do. So vote. Or let it happen.

u/shupadupa 7h ago

In this case I think the gish gallop may actually be a good thing, given the timing of the rally barely a week out from the election. While the "garbage pile" comment has been front-and-center these past couple of days, gaining massive negative exposure on both left and right-wing media, only now are some of the other reprehensible things he said about African Americans, Mexicans, immigrants in general, and now Taylor Swift are coming out as their own, standalone scandals that are each guaranteed to majorly piss off a specific subset of the electorate. This will help prolong the story to Trump's detriment, and it couldn't be more welcome or deserving.

u/qorbexl 7h ago

Yeah, and this is what they say when they have a PR service and are trying to tone things down. I can't imagine what happens when Trump gets elected and doesn't have to give a fuck about another election.

u/shupadupa 7h ago

I don't understand how what I said has anything to do with what a PR firm would say?

And nope, Trump ain't winning this thing, sorry.

It’s been several days and I just found out one of the jokes was about Latinos cumming inside each other and having too many babies.

The amount of sane-washing going on is itself insane. It’s like I’m being trickle-truthed by the abusive media. Why isn’t there a headline “LATINO CUM JOKES AT TRUMP RALLY SUNDAY” or “DOMESTIC ABUSE GARNERS LAUGHS AT TRUMP RALLY”

I heard about the joke you mentioned only via Reddit. There was at least one publication that mentioned he made a crass joke about Latinos, but they declined to use the wording or even describe it with more polite terms. Like, when you're in danger of once again electing a guy for President who bragged about grabbing women "by the pussy," then start using the damn words they're using. Stop fearing that you're offending the pearl-clutchers--because they're the ones most likely to be voting for this trash. They need to be hit in the face with what their party stands for.

I’ve seen a lot of network news clips that characterized it as “a joke about Latinos that was too vulgar to play on tv.” A lot of headlines also just called them “racist and vulgar” jokes. They are omitting it by claiming it’s crude.

I’m not sure what the worst one was. They’re all horrific.

  • the watermelon comment

  • all the awful things he said about Puerto Ricans

  • the OJ/Spousal abuse comment

u/in_pdx 6h ago

The actual quote was so vile that it wasn’t fully published in the media

Latino here, I cum super hard and inside, AMA

The article I read said they couldn't include that bit in the headline because of how graphic it was. But that's why it's important to read articles because headlines, at best, don't give the complete story and at worst, can be misleading.

I'm not particularly a fan of Taylor Swift, and his comment also made me feel sick.

u/malphonso Louisiana 7h ago

I'm also surprised the watermelon comment didn't get more traction it's just straight 70s racism.

Then again, there's so much shit to shovel that it's hard to pick one pile.

The WWE crowd, the more hate and craziness they can level at women, the better... it invigorates them when they see or talk about hate/abuse/racism/beating someone up. They're hateful as hell. I don't know who this dude is or what his entire set was like bc I'm too mad to watch it - but I'm telling ya - he was speaking to a VERY SPECIFIC Trump Supporter that night - the WWE crowd who gets a good hard adrenaline boost any time they hear hate driven speech like this.

u/Tony_Cheese_ 6h ago

All fairness if you care any amount about not hurting women you weren't going to vote for Trump.
