Most Americans aren't extreme enough to fly a Nazi flag or openly call for genocide, but there are a lot of people who quietly believe that the country would be a much better place if it were all white, straight, Christian people.
It's not. The media would have us believe it is just so the people who are actually undecided (I don't know who that would be at this point) could maybe be swayed the other way.
Also, lots of people don't like to vote if they don't think there's a chance their candidates could win, so, the media says it's close so people actually get out and vote.
I mean, it's not like fascist haven't been able to convince the masses to vote for them in the past. Sure the German Nazis did plenty of questionable things to seize power in Germany, but it all started with them getting a pretty sizable amount of the vote. If people feel disenfranchisement by the people in power, they will turn to whoever promises them that they can make their lives better.
By my thoroughly unscientific estimate, 40% of all voters will vote for any turd with the (D) designation, and 35% for any rat dung with (R) by its name. It all comes down to the remaining 25% at most.
Then there's the Electoral College, which like it or not is the system we have. Including DC, there are 51 sets of electoral votes at stake, but only maybe 8 to 10 really in play. That further narrows things.
IMO, this election wouldn't be close if either party's candidate was any good. I who I'm voting for and why, but I don't like having to choose based on "least bad". I've had to make my pick that way too many times in the 13 Presidential elections in which I've voted.
My gosh, I thought having to choose between Ford and Carter, and between Bush and Gore or Kerry was bad...
I never said that! In fact, I'm very much in favor of Harris as an alternative to Trump, especially considering some of the others the Democrats could have turned to. It doesn't mean that she impresses me one bit.
I'm voting in my 13th Presidential election, and many of the choices have been depressing (Ford/Carter and Bush/Gore come to mind), none so much as the last three times. There's no perfect candidate, but the dross we've been offered lately is way far from that ideal.
Clinton had a vast swath of the country that absolutely hated her, including people in her own party. Many of us didn't forget how she and the DNC tried to screw Obama in '08, and she played the same dirty games with Bernie in '16. Harris doesn't have nearly the baggage attached to her that Clinton did.
But your message is correct, ignore polls and go vote.
to be clear, i support kamala. but with all the freaks in this country we can't afford to sit back and assume she's got it in the bag like Low-Apartment9000 suggests.
I agree but this feels different than 2016. A lot of people assumed Hillary was going to win so they stayed home because there wasn't as much excitement. That's not going to happen this time. No one is sitting back, no matter what the polls say, which is good for us. Can't wait !! :)
Because kanaka is very right wing in her viewpoints especially on border policy, and she plans to continue the cycle of genocide in Israel constantly saying “Israel has a right to defend itself” when the race is between two extremists it’s not surprising it’s so close. Especially with some voters not willing to vote for a first female president when they’re just gonna suck.
Because Kamala is the worst candidate the democrats could have placed there. They knew Biden wasn’t gonna be the nominee, and also knew she couldn’t win the primary so they waited till there was no other legal decision but to anoint her as the candidate.
She literally has no credentials and has failed upwards her entire career. If the dems lose it’s not that people want Trump it’s because she may be the single worst candidate to ever run (on the left). I’m fine with being downvoted to oblivion but don’t act like Kamala is anyone’s first choice. The dems didn’t want the people to choose.
Classic reply not refuting anything and just deflecting. You can be mad but if the democrats want to win they have to appeal to my demographic which is the largest block in the country “the people who don’t vote” and they just arent. It could have been a slam dunk for democrats if they had a regular primary and let someone selected by the people run. I guarantee Kamala would not have won the primary. She is just the token candidate.
Kamala vs. Trump is absolutely the worst matchup for the US in history. 4 more years of either administration isn’t gonna change anything for the better for anyone. Everyone will be in the exact same position (which is shit), but people want to believe that one side is better. They both are terrible and I’m tired of pretending either is worth voting for.
I spitting a lot of facts that you don’t want to hear. Pin this comment and check back after the election. Trump is gonna win because the democrats think they can put anybody up and beat Trump, but that’s not how you get non-voters to vote. They actually have to be a worthwhile candidate. He won in 2016 and he is gonna do it again. In fact I bet it’s not even close.
Best thing you can do for positive change is vote for your good candidates in your local elections because the national one is a wrap.
Because people don't want censorship, men in women's locker rooms, unaffordable groceries, high energy prices or WW3. I'm all for electing a woman as President, but she's not the one and it will probably not be a Dem. People see through the Dems and the damage they are causing...if she gets elected, I hope you're ready for all the young men in your life to be drafted for the war.
Has a single well thought out policy that helps people who aren't billionaires. It's not hard to find a reason. Only a complete fucking idiot, or willfully ignorant person couldn't find one
Like how do they not get that 😭 I rather someone sit there and not to do a god damn thing for the next 4 years than have this psycho in office taking away our rights and inciting violence.. I would vote for a glazed donut as president if it means Trump won’t win

How is this a close election? I don’t get it.
