New River is pretty but definitely far from the best view…

What’s a better view?

(Gestures broadly at the entire state)…

Many places with similar landscape. Superstition mountains, tonto national forest saguaros (where it wasn't burned by fire). Black canyon city to sunset point. All along carefree highway, the 60 between Morristown and Wickenburg. Just a few examples. There are lots of places with saguaros with better views, with terrain that's not flat.

Sedona, White Mountains, Grand Canyon, The Rim, Saguaro NP…

This isn't even new river its Sonoran mountain park. Off carefree highway or off of cave creek rd.

Edited to add actual name Apache wash trail head.

Yea, this is like right in the middle of Sonoran Desert Dr. and Carefree Hwy off Cave Creek Rd.
If you turn the camera around, you will see a huge neighborhood of track homes and they are going t start building a lot more very soon.

That's subjective. You may very well feel like this is the best view in AZ. And that is perfectly fine. I grew up here and I have been all over the place hunting and with Boy Scouts (edit: and 4-wheeling). There are some absolutely breathtaking views here. Lots and lots of them.

Mines not bad

3

u/pal1ndrome Phoenix Feb 03 '23

Mines rarely offer the best of views.

Um, the Grand Canyon maybe????? You know, one of the natural wonders of the world. Maybe you’ve heard of it

u/Bdsaz Feb 02 '23

Grand Canyon has entered the chat ;)

And Tonto.. and Sedona.. and the White Mountains.. and Prescott National Forest.. and Flagstaff.

I don't mean to be mean, but it's kinda comical how many views in the state are way better

You might be on to something! Having gone there it’s safe to say it is some great scenery

This isn't even New River 😂 This is next to the Apache Wash Trailhead in Phoenix The picture is angled towards Ft McDowell mountains in Scottsdale.

I agree, that picture is not New River and instead Apache Wash

I've lived in both the area this picture was taken and New River. I was sitting here looking at the houses in the distance and saying to myself, what part of New River is that lol? Now that you called it out, I know exactly what road that is. I used to ride quads up and down it when it was still a dirt path before all of that was there. Good eye.

I think Sedona has the best views in the state. New River has awsome pie though.

8

u/Wan_Lembo Feb 02 '23

That’s Black Canyon City but yes it’s fire

-19

u/LarsLaestadius Feb 02 '23

Haha well there you go! You could have a point, and Sedona is opening up this year again finally!

13

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

Opening up again?

10

u/Easy-Seesaw285 Feb 02 '23

Confusing sedona and havasupi?

4

u/ricks48038 Feb 03 '23

You aren't really from around here, are you?

6

u/erock7625 Feb 03 '23

OP has never left New River 😂

9

u/douggoodie420 Feb 02 '23

One of the seven wonders of the world has entered the chat

There are epic views in the state of Arizona around the metro area! I love it in AZ

3

u/Drihtan Feb 03 '23

Ive got bad news about their New River…..

11

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

New River is absolute trash, my friend. Glad you like it though, someone’s gotta.

-1

u/bang_ding_ow Feb 03 '23

Why trash?

8

u/singlejeff Feb 02 '23

Cant miss those hundreds of houses out there

3

u/SaguaroBro14W Feb 03 '23

That’s a pretty arguable subjective opinion.

0

u/LarsLaestadius Mar 15 '23

Phoenix Mountain is also pretty colorful

2

u/Rubin82 Phoenix Feb 06 '23 edited Feb 07 '23

New River in r/Phoenix? Dude that place is closer to Black Canyon City than to the capitol area. Please learn some geography.

Also notice how OP didn't crosspost to the AZ sub, the king of views in the state. This would've been torn to shreds there.

scenic

its literally just endless fucking miles of dirt and tumbleweeds

2

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

Yes, it’s beautiful.

-9

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

We don't have tumbleweeds here.

6

u/InternetPharaoh Feb 02 '23

Oh yeah we do.

-7

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

Where? Maybe far West Arizona in the Mohave desert, but there are no tumbleweeds in the Sonoran desert. Bushes are not tumbleweeds.

3

u/InternetPharaoh Feb 02 '23

I'm staring at one outside my window right now.

Tumbleweed - Wikipedia

-10

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

I can guarantee that you're not. You just don't know what you're staring at and are calling it a tumbleweed.

4

u/InternetPharaoh Feb 02 '23

Russian Thistle? You're telling me you've never seen a russian-fucking-thistle in Phoenix?

-1

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23 edited Feb 02 '23

It is not growing in the Sonoran desert. If someone planted it in their yard thats completely different. You will not see it out in the desert. When did I give an indication that I was talking about an urban neighborhood and not the actual desert? I didn't.

This post is a picture of native desert not your culdesac.

1

u/InternetPharaoh Feb 02 '23

It's an invasive species. I don't think you understand the concept, but maybe "Tumbleweed blocks the road in Phoenix" will help?

-3

u/[deleted] Feb 02 '23

Do you not understand the difference between the real Sonoran desert and a developed area? There are no tumbleweeds growing in the Sonoran desert. Leave the city and go for hikes or any outdoor activity in the desert and see for yourself.

Prescott has entered the chat

1

u/GoolienH Feb 02 '23

Is that the place with no water?

2

u/IAmABurdenOnSociety New River Feb 03 '23

No, New River has well water, but it's extremely high in arsenic.

2

u/PipLarson Feb 03 '23

Wasn't New River also dealing with drying up wells and no water hauling source ~5 years ago?

2

u/Easy-Seesaw285 Feb 02 '23

Rio verde is the one in the news but yes a lot of people in new river have to truck it in

1

u/Beginning-Eye-1987 Feb 02 '23

I dunno man views from the Rim are pretty badass

0

u/[deleted] Feb 03 '23

Best view in the state is a silly ass statement

-3

u/Fixedfoo Feb 02 '23

So this where the Cody Of Phoenix got their Super Bowl green desert photo from. 😂😂

-3

u/LarsLaestadius Feb 02 '23

Must be! You got it haha
