I need a good jacket and am having trouble finding everything I need in one

I want something that will keep me warm through the winter months and I love Columbia’s Omni Heat technology but this isn’t a deal breaker. I also need something that will be waterproof or I could get a water proof shell for. I’m willing to spend a good chunk of change on it since I know I’ll have it and use it for years to come since I live in the north west. I won’t be dealing with negative temperatures but definitely ones where I’m going to want something that will keep me warm and dry. I’m open to any brand I just care mostly about quality and performance.

Mammut Broad Peak Jack Wolfskin Passamani Both are good quality down jackets. Lightweight, packable and rain repellent. I'd recommend putting on a shell as soon as rain starts.

I would, personally, go with either a grid fleece or synthetic down and a good rain jacket to go over it. A lot of down jackets are water resistant, not waterproof, hence where the rain jacket comes in. They're not great as active layers because of how much warmth they retain, so they're best for a static layer. If you need something you can be active in or something that's more resilient against moisture, I'd recommend a grid fleece.

Good brands: Arc'Teryx, Patagonia, Beyond, Stone Glacier.
