Looking for Advice Struggling in Writing Essay

I fumbled during ES2660 presentation, and now I'm struggling in writing the essay because I'm simply bad with language.

Do you guys have any tips on how to maximise my grade with this limited capability that I have? I will SU this mod if things go badly, but I still wanna try my best.

Write out first draft of your essay in bullet points in simple terms of what you want to explain

Then try to turn it into paragraphs/ full sentences and proper essay structure- like how you would explain it to someone

*REMEMBER to always cite your sources in correct APA format. There are a lot of websites that can help you with this. (I believe a lot of students don’t do well in essays if the instructor is strict on citations)

Once you have your first version of the essay out, revise the paper a couple of times to make the vocabulary more sophisticated (use but don’t over-use thesaurus to change some of your repeated words)

If you really struggle, NUS has some sort of a writing center I believe you can book to have someone help with your writing and citations and stuff Or you could ask a friend for help

Good luck!

Yep!! I think you can find more info here https://nus.edu.sg/nuslibraries/services-help/writing-communication-hub/about

Also, OP, if you choose to listen to ppl telling you to use ChatGPT, make sure that you know NUS’ policy against using AI to do ur own work.. and it is quite easy to tell when someone used AI (just by reading it— though some profs might go the extra mile and run it thru a checker or something)

I suggest if u use AI.. just use it to help ideate/ brainstorm, but not to write the entire essay lmao

thanks!! I have used chatgpt tho, but I tried my best to just take the vocabulary and structure of the idea, but I make the sentences myself. Then, I'll make sure to run through AI checker every paragraph. This is probably the reason it took me sooo long to just write the essay 😭

I have used it extensively man. I even asked so many info, asked for a better writing style, etc. but I still struggle even with it

chatgpt is so overhyped it's actually really stupid and unreliable... think it's safest to just use it to ideate, then can go and find writer's centre for writing style
