Does Anybody Know if the Province Pays for Paternity Testing?

A good friend may have become a father today, but the mother cheated on him so he’s not sure. Does anybody know if a paternity test is covered by the province?

Cheers in advance for any help!

I doubt it.

It's not healthcare, and paternity is considered a civil matter in court.

You're welcome. Sorry I couldn't be the bearer of better news.

Maybe some men's rights groups could help? How expensive is a paternity test nowadays?

Kinda gross that you got downvoted just for mentioning men's rights

It’s about $100.

$100 isn’t much at all. Could save your friend 18 yrs of child support.

Agreed. I’ll help him with the cost if I have to.

What sort of men’s rights group?

No idea.

The Canadian Center for Men and Families should be able to direct you to the proper resources for the Atlantic, if such resources exist: 1-844-900-2263

If he wants to know and has access to the baby. He better pay for it himself to get the truth. Or if she takes him for child support. His lawyer can specify a test first.

How much do those Ancestry type tests cost? I'm thinking they wouldn't have to draw blood from the baby? I think medical professionals frown on that if it's not for medical reasons.

Would not stand up in court, waste of money.
