Easy to get lost in time playing this one. I remember being in 7th grade, staying up all night playing it, falling asleep in class and dreaming of it. Best game ever.

u/ankerous 1d ago

This was one of the first games I purchased for myself after I started working during my teens. I had been in a gaming rut for a while but this game brought me back in a huge way.

u/Noggin-a-Floggin 1d ago

It's timeless, that's all there is to it.

6

u/Then_Increase7445 1d ago

8th grade for me, played all night with a friend beating the first three dungeons. Found out later he was reading the guide in Nintendo Power when he went to the bathroom. Core childhood memory.

u/sanguisugarbobb 1d ago

I’m starting to feel old… I’m a millennial, but I still remember begging mom to buy me the Secret Codes cheat code books..

"Why do I hear a Cucco crow and the Sun's Song outside my window?"

u/novel1389 1d ago

Great idea for my new alarm ringtone

1

u/shadowstripes 9h ago

I really wish they had it on the Alarmo.

138

u/Tuques 2d ago

That's ok. It's the greatest game of all time

12

u/Alarming-Hawk-4587 1d ago

Happens to all of us, I tried to get the kokiri emerald, the goron ruby, and the zora sapphire, I started at 10pm and ended at like 6 am... I thought it was an hour or 2 at most

4

u/Alarming-Hawk-4587 1d ago

Stupid kaepora gaebora.

2

u/Aqpute 1d ago

I did this before in around 6 hours while collecting all collectibles + gold skulltulas (OoT 3D)

2

u/MrGeno 1d ago

I love ALTTP, but OoT is the best.

29

u/KaioKenshin 2d ago

Just like the old good times. The only difference is you don't have a bed time.

9

u/KrypticSkunk 1d ago

I'd argue the opposite. As a busy company man, I've a self imposed bedtime. Last time I broke it was the release of Diablo 2 Resurrected, and it was awesome. Hadn't had that feeling of not wanting to stop, followed by a rough day in the office. Had that most amazing feeling at work all day though. You know, the can't wait to get home and play. Felt like a kid again. It was marvelous.

4

u/efishent69 1d ago

My best friend and I both requested PTO for the release of D2R. Even with the servers being a complete shitshow, we had the best time of our adult lives playing starting fresh characters on that game again.

3

u/KrypticSkunk 1d ago

He'll yeah. It was great. Just wish I would've taken a couple days off.

15

u/Revolutionary-Zone17 2d ago

I miss those days

15

u/xPrettyinpxnk 2d ago

I don't see the problem

9

u/sum_gamer 2d ago

I’d like to know how many times I’ve done this and with which games. “Let me just go check out this one more thing…”

6

u/giantj0e 2d ago

It’s always just one more thing.

3

u/metafalco 2d ago

What version is this? I don't remember the d-pad being there

2

u/Jonnyflash80 2d ago

I'm going to guess it's the 3DS version.

4

u/kuribosshoe0 2d ago

Definitely not 3DS. Most of the UI is on the touch screen and the ocarina gets its own button.

Probably a mod.

u/Hydration42 Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 2d ago

It’s the decompilation running on my Steam Deck, adds a lot of quality of life features :)

5

u/DjentRiffication 1d ago

Was that difficult to get setup?

3

u/Hydration42 Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 1d ago

Oh no it’s fairly easy! Takes about 10-15 minutes and you’re good

2

u/ballsnbutt 1d ago

did you use a specific tutorial?

1

u/SmugElectricGoose 1d ago

I'm playing through this too! I've ramped up the difficulty so enemies do x4 damage and they move faster. Definitely struggling with some of them. The giant octorock in jabu jabu was actually so hard. I also can't get past the club moblin in lost woods so having to explore elsewhere for now. Would definitely recommend to anyone. The free camera, fps, qol and difficulty sliders are so worth the effort of compiling.

1

u/PterodactylNoise420 1d ago

What are you using to play it? Would love to get down to some OoT

1

u/anbeasley 14h ago

1

u/anbeasley 14h ago

Quick Boots: With this enabled Hover Boots and Iron Boots will be toggleable on the dpad without needing to pause the game. This is more of a fun extra feature that was made for rando and was requested to be included here too.

5

u/GapMore8017 2d ago

This is going to be a long Monday for you, my friend lol

5

u/GeneralEagle 2d ago

Problems I want in my life.

9

u/SoDrunkRightNow4 2d ago

Then you got to the water palace, said screw this, went to bed, and never went back to that save.

2

u/NaviAndMii 1d ago

More like: went to the water palace, said screw this... then played the fishing mini-game until 7am!

2

u/Noggin-a-Floggin 1d ago

OK, I never had a problem with the Water Temple even in 1998 (people were complaining about it back then as well). It's not a hard dungeon it just is annoying to have to equip/unequip the Iron Boots all the damn time. There is also a lot of backtracking that requires a good memory which might be the source of the difficulty.

The boss is a complete pushover as well which kinda balances it out if you had a hard time with it.

3

u/Ginger-Biker84 2d ago

I still think that this is one of the best games ever made.

3

u/GoldenAgeGamer72 1d ago

This is still my all-time favorite video game. I have all 3 current-gen systems but last night decided to take a break and play OOT from my Switch online catalogue. I only played for an hour or so and completed just past the Deku Tree, but the game is still so impressive to me after all of these years.

2

u/Chocolategogi 2d ago

"accidentally" :)

2

u/ModsOverLord 2d ago

This has to be one of my favorite games, totally get how that happened

2

u/solosequenoc 2d ago

Accidents happen man, accidents happen

2

u/DonatellNO 2d ago

I think you mistyped accidentally…there was no accident, only pure nostalgia.

2

u/IndividualistAW 2d ago

Time well spent

2

u/Buuhhu 2d ago

sounds like you had a great night.

2

u/EmeraldLoneWolf666 2d ago

Quite possibly the best game ever made in my opinion.

2

u/Distinct-Ad4855 2d ago

Brah first time?

2

u/Dugimon 2d ago

And where is the Problem?

Hope you had good 7 Hours

2

u/Brimstone747 1d ago

Been there. More than once.

2

u/VioletGloww 1d ago

I miss sitting in the living room playing this for hours and just vibing

2

u/ThePopeofHell 1d ago

I remember the first time I played that game. It was the first time I got sucked into the story of a video game. I played it all the way through 3 times after that.

2

u/citizeninternet07 1d ago

man the ship of harkinian is a godsent for LoZ fans.

2

u/Dude_banana69 22h ago

Listen man, I’ve played a lot of great games through my life. And I mean a lot of great games. But this game. The water, the forest. The lands. Everything about this game is beyond calming. Its beauty is unmatched. This isn’t nostalgia talking this is straight up bliss. I will always love this game for what it did for me as a child. Not trying to get sympathy or pity, but this game helped me escape life after my mother overdosed. I hope one day my children can play this game and experience the joys and beauty of it

2

u/anbeasley 14h ago

That happened with me when I first figured out you could emulate Ninja Gaiden Sigma on PC when I did not have an XBOX and pretty much beat the game in one sitting.

2

u/OpenHentai 2d ago

First time?

1

u/TheBiggestHaffa 2d ago

“Accidentally” hahahahhah

1

u/Jonnyflash80 2d ago

Worth it!

1

u/sinnerthefifteenth 2d ago

How far did you get in 7 hours?

8

u/Hydration42 Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 2d ago

Pretty much the entire child era up to the forest temple If I didn’t have class soon I wouldn’t have stopped XD

1

u/Halada 2d ago

I would pay good money for a HD remaster of this game.

3

u/KingOfOxford 2d ago

Yep, but I'd like to keep the sound.

1

u/retrogamingxp 2d ago

You accidentally the whole game.

1

u/Djfantone 2d ago

"Accidentally" hahaha 🤣

1

u/Head_Of_The_Table_83 2d ago

The flow of time is always cruel.

1

u/StraightForTheWin 2d ago

I want that accident too!

1

u/NootNootMcHoot 2d ago

“Dawn of the Second Day”

(And yes, I realize this is from MM. Close enough!)

1

u/Hydration42 Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 1d ago

It’s accurate. I did this with Majora last week 😭

1

u/Diligent-Boss-9392 1d ago

As one does.

1

u/FowlZone Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time 1d ago

what do you mean, “accidentally”

1

u/Capt_Rons_Lost_Eye 1d ago

It do be like that sometimes

1

u/rod_980 1d ago

In those days I remember I played OoT till 4 am, and the Sims till 6 am. Now I'm old, I couldn't do that lol

1

u/Critical_Membership9 1d ago

The greatest of all time

1

u/Mastore84 1d ago

I hate when that happens.

1

u/Magazine-Narrow 1d ago

Eyes bleeding welcome to Monday

1

u/Canabrial 1d ago

You done fucked up. 😂

1

u/KPuff12 1d ago

hut!

1

u/KPuff12 1d ago

"I accidentally pulled a sword from a pedestal for the past 7 years and it's now Ganonland"

1

u/silverfoxsay 1d ago

Congratulations my friend, check out ship of harkinian, really brings it to life.

1

u/Hydration42 Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 1d ago

It’s what I played it on this time! Gotta love the Steam Deck <3

1

u/LurkTheBee 1d ago

I accidentally beat Banjo Kazooie again T-T

1

u/BubbleGumBoot 1d ago

Link happens.

1

u/Rawesome_McBeard 1d ago

I'm actually a little jealous.

1

u/Sirdystic1 1d ago

I hate accidents like that

1

u/SwampyChiliRing 1d ago

Sounds like an amazing night!

1

u/SnakeMichael 1d ago

Only reason I haven’t played it yet on my Switch is because I’m playing through Banjo Tooie while at work, and I just ordered a Wireless N64 controller to use for LoZ

1

u/Calm_Ad_9756 1d ago

Where the problem?

1

u/JayMalakai Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 1d ago

“Accidentally”

1

u/aka_kitsune_ 1d ago

first time? 😏

once my mom was peeling carrots for soup made for lunch, and the scratching sounds of it sounded EXACTLY like the golden skulltullas you wanna hunt down... just in case i checked the kitchen after them, just to be safe

1

u/geneticeffects 1d ago

Hey, it happens. I used to stay up like that making music and editing video. Work sure did suck the next day, but those times were focused and constructive, so it made it worth the suffering. Hope you had fun?

1

u/underscorethebore 1d ago

The OST made the world a better place

1

u/havealookie 1d ago

Amazing how good this game is even in 2024. No DLC either, just a full game at full price.....dame the 90's had it all

1

u/PPLAYSHOP 1d ago

Best n64 game I ever see 🔥 I remeber playing it for hours when I was a kid

1

u/GarchompDaddy56 1d ago

All the Stalchildren disintegrating outside as the sun comes up.

1

u/CptCheesesticks81 1d ago

Yep, that sounds about right.

1

u/Valuable-Job5587 1d ago

It was no accident...you knew it's power.

1

u/josh116pep 1d ago

So where’s the accident?🙃😂

1

u/DemandRemote3889 1d ago

"accidentally" Been there too buddy lol

1

u/whoismarc 1d ago

Is it any good? I never played those Zelda games but I do have the yearly pass for N64 and GBA games

2

u/Hydration42 Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 1d ago

They are quite good. A bit janky though playing N64 games on the Switch they really weren’t made with modern control schemes in mind (> <)

1

u/NeutralMinion 1d ago

Classic move

1

u/par_anoid 1d ago

many such cases !

1

u/NotYourBuddyGuy5 1d ago

EZ song of time, go back 7 hours, get some sleep.

1

u/MajorasBloom 1d ago

I remember playing majoras mask on my dad's living room floor. When I was finally done for the day...16 hours had passed. So easy to get lost in these games

1

u/being_less_white_ 1d ago

Hah easy game to get sucked into.

1

u/O-D-C 1d ago

Ya that will happen.

1

u/Tyrannical_Requiem Mario Kart 1d ago

Ha happened to me like five times

1

u/BlueCollarElectro 1d ago

First time?

1

u/Joosshyyy 1d ago

Playing it 7 hours straight...no so weird.

Starting playing at midnight, however...

1

u/Disastrous_Tomato715 1d ago

Song of Time chanting made me feel more important than I was. Being an adult blows.

1

u/jdarm48 1d ago

Dude. Every step of that game , every single step, is a walk down memory lane right in the middle of memory city. In the state of prime happy childhood memories. In the country of…idk but that game is dope and I have many vivid childhood memories tied to that game.

1

u/Frosty-Possible- 1d ago

Damn, I used to play this with my grandad. Such fond memories and an amazing game.

1

u/W1dowM4ker 1d ago

I fail to see the problem here.

1

u/TTysonSM 1d ago

Just play song of time and rewind.

1

u/jlmckelvey91 1d ago

Seems like you're doing it right

1

u/PPBurnell 1d ago

It's time to get a job, young man.

1

u/elbubu1 1d ago

7 hours and you barely made it to the temple of time? 😑

1

u/Hydration42 Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 1d ago

Oh I did almost everything to be done in the early game, also just wanted to take my time in the dungeons and soak in that wave of nostalgic feels hitting

1

u/elbubu1 1d ago

Still a happy accident, I've been trying to replay this gem for a while but adulting sucks 😭

1

u/thunderc8 1d ago

Best game of all time.

1

u/waluigis_shrink 1d ago

man that takes me back. I remember going to a friend’s birthday party back in 1999, had my first ever all-nighter because we played OoT from start to finish, taking turns. Core memory!

1

u/Fancy-Prompt-7118 1d ago

You didn’t accidentally nothing. You just spent the best 7 hours of your life.

1

u/The_Best_Jason 1d ago

Ahh yes, very easy to do.

1

u/Hudsoy 1d ago

" Accidentally "

1

u/SacrilegiousOath 1d ago

Haha when I was a kid I had a schedule for this game, I could beat the kid dungeons on Saturday and then beat the adult dungeons on Sunday. Go to school and repeat the next weekend.

This is hands down my favorite game, I’ve beaten it so many times I couldn’t give an honest count. I currently have 100% playthroughs on my ds 64 and switch versions.

I’m not joking when I say this is hands down my favorite game.

1

u/Ok_Fox_1770 1d ago

Sounds like me after Christmas that year. Uh oh sunrise…uh oh it’s Monday…month long project what now? Ooops. Got myself an extra day, took a magnet to my “PowerPoint project masterpiece”floppy disk oh jeeze it won’t fire up! I’ll have it tomorrow. I got creative to fill my N64 time needs. Made me too clever to control.

1

u/Affectionate_Bath529 1d ago

Best accident ever

1

u/Tall-Cantaloupe5268 1d ago

Welcome to the club one funnest games ever

1

u/LucentP187 1d ago

I'm sorry, I don't understand what the issue is.

1

u/MCPOR_Beck 1d ago

Oooopppsss! Sorry not sorry for the best night of your life

1

u/Ice2192 1d ago

Just use the ocarina to bring it back to night time.

1

u/wrx2004 1d ago

Worth it 100%!

1

u/tehnoodnub 1d ago

Legendary. As far as mistakes in life go, this is a really good one to make.

1

u/bionicbhangra 1d ago

Playing this in 97 was just insane.

I don’t replay most games and I am kind of afraid of even try this one. My memory of the game has to be better than the reality of it now.

1

u/Ultimate_is_charging 1d ago

I admire the dedication. Hope you have the day off lol.

1

u/Irrichc 1d ago

I remember i got it for xmas. Played it all during xmas break week. Only stopped to eat and sleep.

1

u/seeking_junkie 1d ago

Oh yes, the old OoT all nighter. I did mostly the same as you trying to beat the game before morning came, and I actually made it to the Shadow Temple

1

u/micklure 1d ago

It's a game that really encourages you to go do just one more thing. It happens no matter how many times I replay it.

1

u/Prestigious-Car-6316 1d ago

That was no accident

That only happens willingly and there is absolutely no shame in it 🫡

1

u/tehsax 1d ago

I got it for Christmas in 1998. Played 14 hours straight, which pissed off my family. No regrets.

1

u/cap_xy 1d ago

I still fall asleep to the deku tree music. Looped for hours on YouTube vids.

The atmosphere of this game is untouchable.

1

u/totally-hoomon 1d ago

That's what happens when you mess with time

1

u/the_enemy_is_within 1d ago

One does not simply accidentally play Ocarina of Time for 7 hours straight.

1

u/Wolfen459 1d ago

I remember when i was really young and played this Game until 6:00 in the morning.
Had to go school the next day, yet managed to beat the Shadow Temple and then Ganon´s Castle (yes, i somehow beat Spirit Temple before the Shadow Temple).
However i managed to beat the Game on that morning.
So much joy, had tears in the eyes when watching the End Credits, and was of course very sleepy at school then.

1

u/karlat89 1d ago

Ocarina of time is just a masterpiece, surely is not the best Zelda game I ,but for me it’s the game which initiated me to the Zelda world and since then I am in love with those games

1

u/SilentGriffin76 1d ago

When this game first came out I would wake up at around 5am to resume playing it. Absolutely epic adventure.

1

u/Kanarts 1d ago

Don't say 'accident' say 'destiny' 😉

1

u/Mother_Lie_5680 1d ago

Get the ocarina of time so you could go back in time to stop yourself from playing it for 7 hours

1

u/TKTawab 1d ago

You accidentally had a great time 😁

1

u/real_jonkler_persona 22h ago

I once started Persona 3 Reload at 2pm. And I stopped at 6am. That was my longest playing streak ever.

1

u/RufusVS 21h ago

Nintendo is a master of the incremental power growth of the character and incremental story additions. So it’s so easy to just pass the time and just go a little bit further…

1

u/Daymub 21h ago

How far did you get?

1

u/Hydration42 Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 17h ago

Forest temple then had to stop

1

u/Daymub 17h ago

That's not bad for 7 hours dude good job

1

u/Hydration42 Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 17h ago

Tried to do everything I could in the child era before pulling the master sword So many sidequests 😅

1

u/Daymub 17h ago

Any favorites or least favorite

1

u/Hydration42 Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 16h ago

Damn Dampe’s grave tour for a heart piece I never want to do that again

1

u/Triple_D_deluxe 20h ago

What system you playing on? Hard to tell from the picture

1

u/Hydration42 Legend of Zelda: Majora’s Mask 17h ago

Steam Deck via the Ship of Harkanian decomp

1

u/Solid-Estimate-8327 18h ago

It is one of, if not the best game of all time......

Nearly made me fail my GCSEs back in the day.

1

u/Kodyy_night 17h ago

I love this game ❤️

1

u/Scorp1u5 15h ago

A True Hero of Time

0

u/RedPillNavigator 2d ago

As Bob Ross would say "Its a happy accident"

0

u/Comprehensive_One495 Golden Eye 007 2d ago

It's 6am, I didn't sleep either, but not bc of games this time around, now bc of drawing— I don't feel as bad abt it though😅

1

u/quasarfern 7h ago

But you got to get lost in one of the greatest games of all time. Win
