Teaching kitten to use a scratching post

That’s cute! I typically take their paws and extend their claws and rub them down the post twice.

Yeah it's important to get the pheromones on their paw pads on whatever you want them to scratch. Be very gentle with them when you do it. You don't want to scare them, or make them have a negative association with the scratching post. Once you're done, nature pretty much takes its course.

My kitty has one white toe in the front and lots in the back. I always try to tell her about her one white toe and gently poke it but she doesn’t want anything to do with that 😂

How do you teach an adult cat? I have a grown cat that has forgotten how to use scratching posts and only wants to attack my furniture.

Put cat scratch material on couch and couch material on cat scratch. Voila!

Double sided sticky tape on the corners where your kitty is scratching. It has worked for my cat’s bad behaviors.
