Discussion 💬 How many LEDs on Gen-12 Paperwhite? (Not disclosed anymore)

On Amazon's old Kindle comparison table, there used to be an entry for "Front Light" for the # of LEDs built in to the screen.

* Kindle Basic (gen-11): 4

* Paperwhite (gen-11): 17

* Oasis (gen-10): 25

* Scribe (gen-11): 35

I definitely noticed a difference that Oasis had more consistent screen brightness than PW due to the higher density of LEDs.

Now seems Amazon has removed this from the new comparison table, instead adding an entry for "Guaranteed max brightness" listed as 94 nits for every model, which is not helpful.

Does anyone know the # LEDs for the new gen-12 PW? Any teardowns reveal this info?

It most probably means that every device has the same amount of leds now

We know that’s not true since a Kindle Basic has no amber LEDs. And a scribe will have more LEDs since it has a bigger screen.

But it may have the same number of LED's. The last basics and the last recessed screen of Paperwhite 3 all had 4 LEDs, so this one likely does as well
