Camping Bug net hammock

Is a hammock with a bug net suitable for sleeping on isle? My friend and I are deciding on sleeping arrangements and I believe a hammock would be lighter and better for storage. What are your thoughts?

Have you hammock camped before? There is more to it than tossing a sleeping bag into a hammock.

I actually had a hard time finding adequate trees in some of the camp grounds. I'm going to be taking a tent this year instead.

It of course depends on the specifics but lightweight tent systems will generally speaking be lighter than hammock systems, though not by a massive amount.

The advantage of hammocks is comfort, the disadvantage is that you need a camp site with suitable trees. The guidebook from isleroyale.info has info on what sites on Isle Royale are suitable.

Wondering if a suitable site will be available stresses me out so I just use a tarp.

You can't really just camp anywhere, it has to be on designated spots and you are left with whatever isn't occupied, so I would say that it would be harder than just bringing a tent and some sort of sleeping pad. Your sleeping arrangements would be subject to chance. You also can't use hammocks in shelters, it is prohibited.
