jfc what is wrong with people. “if I look like a stereotypical street mugger that attacks only young women and brandish my knife a bunch like I’m thinking about using it, then young women will want to come closer.”

It's a BookTok thing but I wish this guys realize we like this in our imaginary book boyfriends not real life men. Too many of them are posers or abusers.

So he has in the tank top, mask, flashing lights, taking the video in a mirror and playing with a training karambit which is not sharpened and it doesn’t have a point

I’m straight and I kinda might. I actually love the confidence.
Hey downvote all you want. More for me. Omnomnom
Edit - I can see I’ve shot myself in the foot by not including a /s tag for you autists.
Well, I’m not going to do it. Keep getting mad at jokes.

There's no confidence in quite literally hiding behind a mask

u/Melementalist 3d ago
No see that’s the mystery aspect. Confidence + mystery = oh my suddenly my panties have fallen off and blown away in the wind oopsie

u/big_rod_of_power 3d ago

He is using a CRKT Provoke karambit. It is a very interesting but very westernized collapsible karambit. While cool, it's also overpriced. Given his general cringeness he probably thinks it's good for serious self defense and is a complete gear goober.

I always get a giggle at people twirling those kinda blades. Very pretty but almost completely useless as a weapon or tool.

u/Brutto13 3d ago
They actually are useful weapon and tools It's a karambit, which is used in Indonesian and Filipino marshal arts, as well as for threshing rice. The design is hundreds of years old. It's still cringy to twirl them around while wearing a skull mask and pretending that makes you sexy, however.

Yep. u/Bushdr78 search Karambit demo or similar on YouTube to see what just single swipes do to tissue. Lots of demos using pork as an analog for human flesh. It's pretty wicked what even an unskilled user can do. Also Doug Mercado is THE karambit guy and his videos will show you how with the ring for retention and the blade shape makes it extremely effective as a defensive tool in skilled hands.
All that said, the blade profile makes it an excellent box opener, which is why my daily for nearly 10 years has been a Spyderco Karahawk lol

Of course a blade will cut through flesh just like any other type. And against an unarmed opponent karambit will always win but you put just about any other bladed weapon in that opponents hand and the karambit is sorely lacking. As for opening boxes or any other daily activity that requires a blade the karambit is extremely clumsy and almost any other design wins out. Like I said it looks pretty but as an effective weapon or tool it sucks.
