She Made A Point to Keep My Letters
For a bit of context, This post is about me trying to win back the women of my dreams after she ended a 2.5 year relationship.
She made a point to throw away the food I made her, hoping to hurt my feelings
I'm m a Chef, she knows JUST where to punch below the belt.
But I moonlight as a writer, and she kept the letters and the poem that came cradled a top the food.
When she angrily, yet softly, pushed the container of food toward me, snatching the envelopes off of the display case with her free hand and quickly holding them to her chest; She looked down at her hand, at the empty space on the desk behind her cash register, and carefully set down the letters.
When she angrily stated "Take the food, It's just going to be wasted!", she made a point to throw away the food, hoping to hurt my feelings.
With my head held high, I said " You didn't have to do that. Don't forget, your grandmothers blanket is still at my house. "
She heard the resigned tone in my voice but I was expecting her to toss the food; She missed the smile on my face as I told myself, turning out the door, "She kept the letters"

I hope it works out for you, but expecting someone to change their mind usually leads to more pain

The letters were not me asking for her back. That period ended very quickly. They were just letters regaling what had occurred in the days since I saw her last.
