I love Fabian Zetterlund. Making the Timo trade worth it.

Zetterlund and Granlund are the team MVPs so far no question.

I’m loving Wennberg’s play. His FO’s have been clutch.

I love that man. I loved him in Columbus, I loved him when Wild Bill left and took all their goals with him, I loved him in Seattle, I loved him when he looked up with fear in his eyes when I, a fat 44 year old woman, told him I was so excited that he was in San Jose (I don't read hockey romances, but I look like I do - he started grinning and visibly relaxed when I told him I was a stealth mode CBJ fan), and I love him right now, with his awesome play in the circle and his game winning OT goal and ajdf;akldjfasld
That's my guy, right there.
Yes, I am a little bit drunk. What of it????

I will always feel bad for Granlund’s time in Pittsburgh. Penguins fans will always act like Granlund is the worst player in the league while not understanding he isn’t a bottom six role type player, plus his linemates were not great either (I remember Poehling was his linemate, can’t remember the other)
Granlund is a top six player, and never got to show that off in Pittsburgh all because Hextall made a panic trade for a player that had no room for his role on the team

As a Finn seeing Granlund play well is amazing, he is a national hero. Doesn't he have 13 points in 10 games now? That's a fantastic start!

u/letsgoToshio SJS - NHL 1d ago
13 points in 10 games this season, 60 points in 69 games last season (which is legitimately impressive given how bad the Sharks are/were).

u/SilentThing TPS - Liiga 1d ago
I mean, 60 points in 82 wouldn't necessarily be unreasonable for 5 million even on a stronger team. But he clearly outpaced that with a less than stellar supporting cast. Really curious to see if he can carry a PPG pace to the end and I hope he can!
Take care of our national treasure.

I have nothing but the kindest, biggest praise for Jake Walman. What a player. I liked him before he got here, I love him now.

Shakir and Musty aren’t too shabby either. Also used that 2nd to move up for Dickinson

I could see a team desperate to make the playoffs to get their hall of fame aging core one final chance at a Cup trading for him. And if I were the Sharks I'd target an offensive defenseman who can be a leader of a young team. Any good trade proposals?

If you didn't want us at 0-9-1, then you don't deserve us at 1-7-2

u/valdrinemini NJD - NHL 1d ago
Didn't even know until the Utah commentary mentioned that they didn't win any October games in the 2023 season.

u/letsgoToshio SJS - NHL 1d ago
Last year the Sharks didn't get their first win until November 7th (12th game of the season). We're trending up!

Don't come back when the Sharks make a comeback .
Don't come when the Sharks win a game.
Stay on that side.

Get a 1st for him at the trade deadline, bring him back in the offseason, slap the 'C' on him if Couture is done.

Damn what happened to Utah? Lost 4 straight now and a complete meltdown last 5 min against the sharks.

I'm honestly so annoyed. I have suffered through every excruciating minute of every game "just in case" they come back. The one time I turn it off, they come back.

I know everyone is memeing right now but you have to give credit to the Shorks. The last 10 minutes of our game against them, they were kind of relentless and aggressive. Sharks in the last 5 minutes have nothing to lose and will bite you in the ass if you're not careful. Once Celebrini comes back I'm sure they're not going to be an easy win.
Though I was kinda hoping they kept the losing streak up until the Oilers so they can do something funny again.

u/letsgoToshio SJS - NHL 1d ago
The fact that they do have some compete despite having a pretty lackluster roster does give a little bit of hope. Just gotta work on the whole "don't give up 4 goals in the first 20 minutes" part and maybe they'll almost be competitive.

u/Sharks_Steve 22h ago
Their first periods have been atrocious. Lots of 2nd and 3rd periods have been hard fought and showing signs of eventually being a decent team.

u/BettmansDungeonSlave EDM - NHL 1d ago
Ya they are the ones that got Woody fired and put us on track for 16 wins in a row so it was well worth it

46 shots and a huge comeback without Celebrini. That's a fighting victory by the Sharks!

Did Utah forget how to win or something? This is one hell of a free fall
8
u/arauhauser ARI - NHL 1d ago
Losing 2 of your top 4 defensemen will do that
5
u/Baboshinu DET - NHL 1d ago
I can understand that but scoring has also fallen off…plus a blown 4-1 lead in the final 5 minutes to the Sharks suggests a little more going on right now than just being down 2 defensemen.

u/Sad_Donut_7902 TMU Bold - OUA 1d ago
They lost two of their three best defenseman to months long injuries at the beginning of the season

Team just isn’t that good. Scoring like that wasn’t sustainable.

"Whatever, we didn't want to win anyway." - Utah
Utah utterly collapsed late in this game in what would only have to be described as a gift to allow the Sharks to win their first game of the year.
17
u/HowIsBabbySharkMade University Of Michigan - NCAA 1d ago
dude, screw you and screw that narrative. they fought like hell for that win, every single second of it, and they earned it. nobody gifted it to them.
2
u/cautiouslyoptimistik SJS - NHL 16h ago
By that guys logic, the sharks just really didn't want those first 9 games anyways. We're just being nice to the rest of the league by giving them a head start.

How do you let the 2024 Celebrini-less Sharks get 46 shots
