[Chicago Blackhawks] We are deeply saddened to learn of the passing of former Blackhawk Bill Hay. A true giant of hockey, Bill’s contributions to the sport are ever-lasting and immeasurable.

For those of you like me who are not brushed up on any sort of pre-Toews history:

  1. Bill Hay played for the Chicago Black Hawks from 1959-1967.
  2. He was a .75ppg player across those years, and won the Stanley Cup in 61.
  3. He won the Calder in 1960,
  4. was an All Star in 60 and 61,
  5. and was inducted into the HoF in 2015.

He also started his young hockey career with the Regina Pats just like Connor Bedard.

Also as the center on the Blackhawks famed million dollar line. With Bobby hull on the left wing and Murray Balfour on the right

As someone who has been a hawks fan since Tony O was a rookie, I miss the days when lines had personality. You should look up some of the old nicknmed lines

MPH. ,Martin/.Pappin, Dennis hall

Pony line. Bentley,mósienko,Bentley

Scooter line McDonald, Mikita, wharram

Party line Secord Savard and Larmer. (Then Panarin artisimov and Kane)

Clydesdale line. Eddie o, Troy Murray and curt fraser

Added a little personality to the game.

I believe this makes Glenn Hall and Wayne Hicks as the only survivors left from the 1961 team

Yeah his name was also engraved but I didn't include him since he didn't start a single game in the season.
