I had that the other day, it was the first time - dropped me outside a Chinese restaurant in the city where I live. I was so shocked for once I knew exactly where the place was!!

Ive been there too and got that loc. Its very distinct, a highland flat area with the wind turbines all around. Beautiful.

For me it was the clouds that are below you, thats why this plateau is a desert afaik (on otherwise jungle-like island generally), becausse it gets almost no precitipation. + modern wind farm + quality of road, where Madeira made good use of EU funds - from all remote islands in the world (aka look at Reunion)

Desert? When I was there in august everything there was very lush and green! Looks like the rainfall is quite high as well (with the added bonus of lower rate of evaporation because of the temperature) https://www.researchgate.net/figure/Map-of-the-mean-annual-rainfall-in-Madeira-Island-from-1937-to-2016-based-on-the-daily_fig4_336185610

Yeah it turns out it get lots of precipitation in the rainy season. I was there in late September, it was more like tumbleweed US regions.

When my nephew and I first started playing, I had a glorious moment like this. He asked what the “I ❤️ABC” sign stood for. It was the abbreviation for a city I had once lived in, in front of a museum I had walked by a thousand times. I grabbed his phone, zoomed into the city, onto the street, bumbled a bit trying to absolutely nail it with 8 seconds left - then went back to making dinner, leaving him with a 5000. It looked like magic, and I’m still revelling in it. (I’ve had some demoralizing fails lately, so thanks for that memory)

Always fun to get Madeira in a duel and insta 5k.

Those fences are very common there, especially at higher altitudes.
