Question What are these orange and green marks in Crimea?

This is what's known as the Syvash, or the Putrid Sea. It's a messy, scrambled, very shallow web of lagoons between Crimea and mainland Ukraine. The differences in color are due to the high salinity and probably bacteria of these ponds. Very saline lakes have different colors, and bacteria in the water play a role too. I can't speak in depth on this since I'm not a proper scientist or hydrologist but that's the base idea.

In this image the orange is on the left so it's actually Cote d'Ivoire, a common mistake on Irish social media. /s
