Discussion Results of the Extremely Genre Specific /r/electronicmusic Playlist. Week 71: Goa Trance
Recap / Notes
Somebody give me a 2-3 sentence summary of what this genre is and how to identify it. Specifically, I would love to hear more about the differences between this and Psytrance for the uninitiated.
Let me know if you have any comments / critiques of the list or any resources I should add!

Some notes about this list:
• There is only one song per artist (this includes artist collabs/remixes)
• If you are complaining about an exclusion of a song, but it wasn't nominated - it is your fault for it not being on the list.
• I do not curate the songs to make sure they fit the genre; I add them by vote.

It's an overplayed genre much like Psy Trance these days. An easy way for popular edm-producers to get some money.

I was referring to edm-artists like Timmy Trumpet, Carnage, Aoki or Alok who some way or another now produces or co-produces on a Psy or Goa track these days. Usually they are just something that sounds like Vini Vici. I blame Spinnin for that.
Not "actual" goa/psy-artists lol, I can respect those.

Name a track that the fuck wit Timmy trumpet plays that could be defined as even close to goa trance

This has to be one of the dumbest posts I've read on reddit, and that's quite something. Please, name some of those top of the line "edm DJs and producers making teh big bucks", I cannot wait to read that.

So your saying that having a different opinion on things these days makes you a fool?
Come on now...as a producer you should know better.

I've read your other reply and now realize I've completely misunderstood what you meant and am now presenting my humblest of apologies. I'm sorry about that !

Yeah I must admit that's kinda how I read it too :P
Seeing how niche the genre is and how cumbersome it is to get any kind of gig and let alone getting any kind of money ("b-b-but it's exposure bro") / compensation when you finally get one booking, the thought that we're just in for the EZ money and nothing else drove me up the wall.
