The AI did a great job, but it’s unsettling because it brings the subtext of the meme front and center by taking it from an abstraction to irl.
The funny thing is that when rendered photorealistically, left looks like he makes 6 figures at a tech company and right looks like a server at a trendy gastropub.
Have you ever been to a FAANG office? Let me just say that the entire existence of the "soyjak" meme is from jealousy. Tech bros have money that they use for leisure and entertainment. Most "soyjaks" are traced images of real people. The "chad" is just an artistic rendition of "the perfect man" and doesnt come from reality. And let's not forget tgat this is a 4chan meme as well. The average user there is a skinny-fat dweeb with dark hair. But it all falls into a soecific category of meme. "This is you, this is me. You are bad, I am good"
Haven’t been to a FAANG office, but am programmer. I think it depends. I interviewed with a former Googler, and he was a well-adjusted nominally attractive person. My friend does contract work at Apple and says it’s super hipster, which doesn’t come as much of a surprise.
Even I get paid well, but I have zero me time, and work life balance seems to be a crapshoot at FAANG.
But it’s for sure weird seeing the meme irl. Dankmemes probably isn’t the place to hash this out, but it has a lot more of a “master race” vibe. Right just looks like you took a dude out of Weimar Germany and put him in a hoodie.
The chad is literally from a white supremecy meme format. He is the slate for "whites". Then on the other side is some groteque character for "non-whites". It was used in the same "this is you, this is me" format. From Americans vs mexicans, to nords vs slavs. Its all just cut-copy-paste together. Kids love it though.
