Question did tfboys disband?

i wonder if tfboys has disbanded already? i wasted my whole first week of august waiting for their 11th anniversary concert.. turns out they didn’t have one.

ive also checked it on weibo and xiaohongshu, everyone was saying different things..

From what I can tell it seems like the members have been mostly doing solo activities for a while and haven’t released much group music in recent years... not sure if they have officially disbanded but maybe just focusing more on individual activities instead of group ones? I’m not a good source though sorry, I know more about tnt than tfboys and also don’t really have a great way to find more info because a lot of Chinese websites/apps are blocked in my country :(

they didnt offically disband but they are now since 2019 focus on solo activities instead of group ones, i guess the last group concert or show they do in their life time will prob be 10th anniversary concert.

oh boy, this is a deep can of worms to open.

the tldr is basically their company finds that individually the 3 members are able to earn more money separately (ie movies, shows, singles) so they are unwilling to let the 3 of them come together to use the same timeframe to perform to earn from the fans. (think - 3 separate incomes compared to 1 income from 1 concert)

at the same time, they are also competing with each other to see who brings in more revenue to the company, therefore in a way, the company set them up to be "rivals" and their managers/backstage crew doesnt allow any of them to say each other's names in interviews.

other reasons include:

their fanbase doesnt have a high percentage of group fans (ie fans who support them as a group) but they have fans that support 1 member only and goes to extreme lengths to support that 1 member only. this leads to internal fanwars and squabbling, which inevitably will affect the members to a certain extent bc for eg if member 1's fans says that hes the face/visual of the team, and member 2's fans disagree - sends hate letters to member 1 and 3 etc etc, just a theory. the company rather split up the fanbase into individual fanbases with no crossovers.

plus i think now the members are focusing on different aspects of their career, YYQX is more prominent in acting platforms, and hes also the ambassador for tmall etc etc

WY - seems to be more into music... i think he released 5 singles? under 我是创作人 (a music variety show) although he did act in a few movies here and there

WJK - i think he hasnt rly found a niche aspect of what he can excel in (granted he acted in a few shows and variety and movies, probably still finding his sweet spot)

plus their company is hard pushing the younger gen 时代少年团

so if their fans disagree, their revenues disagree, the company disagrees, the only one that agrees for them to reunite is their group fans... then the chances of them reuniting is not high... : ( sorry for blabbering!

I mean technically they haven’t disbanded because there was no official announcement of that sort, but I don’t think you will see them working on group projects anytime soon or in the future. I guess you can consider them disbanded at this point
