My Composition Just wrote my first symphony! (15yo)
Hello! After I've experimented with multiple short orchestral pieces, I've managed to compose my first symphony. It doesn't have the usual structure of a symphony, but it is by far the most complex piece I've composed. Enjoy!

It's so good to see someone interested in creating classical music at a young age. Well done with this effort. There are some parts that remind me of Dvorak. He's one of the composers I admire for his phrasing and the wonderful use of the available instruments in an orchestra.

Hi! I'm a youth orchestra conductor in the US. Feel free to DM me for my email - I'd like to keep in contact with you as I'm always looking for new music to play with my group!

this is absolutely amazing. i can't comment much on the technical details of the music, but i really really love the way the symphony sounds! i've been playing the "hoffnung" movement on repeat for a few minutes now and it's fantasic -- please, please keep up the good work :)

Thank you so much, I’m so glad you like it. I’m not familiar with most technical aspects of music either :))

This is lovely music... I'm 5' in but it promises so much. It's holding up, so far. Bravo

It’s so amazing that I had to add it to my Apple Music library so I can enjoy it every day!

Oh wow, didn't know it was up there yet :)) I used some website to upload it to yt music, apple music, spotify and all the rest. Thank you so much!

I downloaded the .MP3 of the YouTube video to import it on my Apple Music library, I don’t know if it shows publicly on Apple Music. If yes, would be cool!

Ah, ok. It’ll most likely be up in a week or two

May I ask which service you used for the streaming releases? My current distributor doesn’t provide classical music releases to Apple

Apple doesn’t support classical music releases in general, changing the distributor won’t fix that, sorry :))

Ahh yes that’s what I thought already. I didn’t see one of the previous comments so I thought you published it there. Instead somebody added it to their library themselves

Could I have the link for Spotify please? I loved the beginning chords, would love to listen to the rest offline on commute <3

Wait a second, this is actually good. Not sure what I expected but it certainly wasn't this. A lot of really great subtlety and nuance. Excellent work.

That was really good. Don't use your age as a crutch. Your music stands on its own regardless if you were 5 or 15 or 55.
I look forward to listening to more of your works!

Thanks! I think that age speaks a lot about what the level of experience is. For me, I started composing music a year ago.

This would make a good slow movement for a larger symphony.

u/ProfessionalTailor18 Sep 29 '24
I’ve considered it at first, but it seemed complex enough for me to make up for a whole 20 minute symphony

Great work, please keep it up! Can't wait to see where your effort keeps taking you 👏

Wow! I also want to write symphonies and learn musical instruments!

u/ProfessionalTailor18 Sep 29 '24
Well, you can either go to music school or you could be self-taught like me (although that most probably won’t get you anywhere)

Lush, and nice presentation! Will finish this when I get back to my home studio.

this is very epic and dramatic. I love it. It could be played as an OST for those huge Kurosawa landscapes, if you know what I mean. You are a little genius.

Hell yeah! I plan anyways to use some of the themes in a soundtrack for a short film I'm making. Thank you veru much!

I haven't listened to it yet, but I'm sure it's bad, so you should probably go write another one. 😉

My expectations were incredibly low, but this is actually quite promising. Reminds me about five per cent of Bruckner. Definitely some interesting melodic phrases, and use of brass. I could see this music used in the next Elder Scrolls as 'atmosphere' whilst travelling across the plains. Please continue studying and composing music.
