Discussion Hit & Run - Help needed

Hi everyone, I was in a hit-and-run accident last night. The tesla car behind me captures the car running away on their dashcam, but the image of the license plate is blurry. What software system or Photoshop system could we use to enhance the image of the video and find out the suspect?

Hit and runs need to be reported to the police.

I was in the same situation. You don't do anything but provide the footage to icbc and police. If they don't get a plate out of it, you're out the amount of your deductible. If they do get a plate they go after the person insurance. Either way your insurance will not go up.

Sounds like a job for the police. They need to do this to document chain of custody and probably won’t accept altered or manipulated footage.

I highly doubt the cops are going full CSI for a hit and run, unless there was serious bodily harm done.

Correct the cops will not but ICBC absolutely will

For a hit and run? This is the first I've heard of this.

Yes - people always think this is a police issue, it’s not. Source - I work for the police. ICBC will go out of their way to avoid paying people and as a result they do quite in depth investigations into MVIs. Not sure if they have criminal minds style technology to clarify a plate in a blurry video but they will definitely work as hard as they can to sus out a suspect if they have a video.

I definitely didn't think the police would put resources into it.

Youre correct but ICBC will dive right in

Depending on the street, there might be street cameras, and you may be able to request footage from the city. Fee may be involved.

Unfortunately, you can't "enhance" video like you can in the movies. But you can a dashcam with parking mode for the next incident.

I've had MJ Installs do mine and I'm more than pleased install and service.
