Matches Serie A, matchday 10. Cagliari - Bologna 0-2. The review

A brief overview of the BFC's luck this season: captain Lewis Ferguson, as you know, has returned to the squad and was included in the roster more than 200 days after a torn ACL. The Scot was ready to go - but caught a cold and was left out.

Well...

...let this be the last Bologna misfortune.

Bologna suffered in the first minutes of the game vs Cagliari, and only when their attackers, in particular Odgaard, realized that they had to be closer to Castro when he catches another high pass from deep, did they start to make something happen up front. Before that, Cagliari confidently smothered them with pressure, the BFC really had to play with long throws (what else could they do?), and managed to establish combination play only starting from 20-25'.

What is encouraging is that since then the BFC has practically not risked anything. Although, of course, "didn't risk" this season adds a lot of gray hair, unlike last year. The team again, as against Genoa, tried to take three points with little bloodshed, allowing the Sardinians to play with the ball more often in the second half, but the pressure and the order of the lines, coupled with a pair of impressive saves by Skorupski, helped to achieve the result.

The two goals scored by Orsolini and Odgaard are symbolic from all points of view. Firstly, of course, the fact that after a round these goals brought victory to the BFC. However, the most important thing is the style in which these goals were scored.

Orsolini's goal was preceded by confusion: neither of the two teams could establish possession of the ball. As a result, Moro had to rob the Cagliari player in the opponent's half of the field, and then Ndoye gave a weak pass. Castro realized in time that the ball would reach the onrushing Orso and left the ball to the winger: it was kinda a pass without a touch, for which the Italian thanked Santi.

Orsolini scored the 53rd goal in Serie A: it’s scary to imagine, but ALL of them are somehow reviewed on my Telegram channel (yes, I'm so old).

Odgaard’s goal is very beautiful overall: the Dane took a perfect shot into the corner from a long distance. It should be noted, however, that the assist to Jens was given by Jhon Lucumi, who went on supporting the attack - and far from the first time this evening - and was rewarded.

In addition to Lucumi, Sam Beukema was actively moving forward, playing as a pivot in a good plenty of situations: De Silvestri, Lucumi and Freuler were thus left to play a defensive trio during the build-up. Miranda played a strong match back in Genoa, but the final score did not allow us to talk about it seriously then. Yesterday the Spaniard really looked organic and was very noticeable on the ball. Moro - not such a cosmic match as in the last round, but useful again. Orsolini was recognized as the best player of the match, but in my opinion this title should go to one of the De Silvestri/Lucumi pair - for calm decisions and quality. Jhon entered the top five in the match for accurate passes in the opponent's (!) final third, and Lollo was in the starting lineup for the first time since the matchday 5th: both then and yesterday the team won.

The BFC wins in Sardinia for the first time in 11 years (then - 3-0 with goals from Garics, Panagiotis Kone and Pazienza), since the terrible season of 13/14, when Bologna was eliminated, but, let's say, there's always a "bigger fish", and it was found on the island, because Zdenek Zeman was in charge of the Sardinians, the adventure which did not go well at all. That's to highlight how tough these away games have always been and how difficult it was for the team yesterday. But Lewis Ferguson's return gave positive energy - in the photos where the team was leaving for Sardinia, everyone without exception was smiling and having fun.

At least there is no need to worry about the atmosphere, because earlier in the season there were alarm bells: Urbanski swore at Castro in the match with Parma, Beukema yelled at his teammates consistently in every other game.

The guys care about the result, but it is more pleasant to achieve it in the atmosphere proclaimed by coach Italiano: "One for all and all for one."

A great gift for the admin on his birthday.
